Default Friend's game only launches after fresh install

a friend i'm trying to play with is having a weird issue. the game is only playable once after installing and patching the game. after closing the client the first time, the launcher doesn't open. he says there are no errors and the process isn't hanging in task manager.

    things he's tried:
    -running as admin
    -running the .exe's directly
    -restarting his pc between launches
    -compatability mode
-disabling windows defender (he has no other antivirus)
-reinstalling all of the redistributables that come with the steam version
    -using the standalone client

If the game is only launching the first time and having issues after. It would suggest the issue is with cone config files that the game creates on first startup.

I would suggest checking the documents/dnd folder and removing the contents of it first then trying to launch the game again to see. If it works, then at least you know where the issue is.

If it's the same issue after removing. I would next check ddo.launcherconfig in the base directory of the game (StandingStoneGames\Dungeons & Dragons Online) along with any logs that is generated.

The launcher logs are stored in: \AppData\Local\Dungeons and Dragons Online

Post this so we can see what's happening.

There will be a unique Key inside this log - something like XSSDSFSFKDJFDASKDWSFKSDF etc. Remove this before posting
