Default Returning Player: pre-domain cleric can still get domain; how?

So, haven't played in ages, not since before they introduced domains to the Cleric class.

Can any of my old Cleric toons still acquire these Feats? How would I do that?

I don't want to delete the toons and/or Reincarnate them.

Just so we're all on the same page, I logged-in and sent one such character to a Cleric Trainer, then to Fred the Feat-Respec Mindflayer; neither possessed any means of plugging-in my "missing" domain.

    Advice, please?

Default Thanks, Enoach, but I found 1 thing more, haha ...

That same toon has PrE trees missing, too.

Ctrl+R brings up some of the PrE trees, but not all of the ones that should be there.

If I have to LR all of my toons, I'm thinking that DDO simply gets binned for good. BTW, I still have all of my "Free Freds" and Newbie +0 Hearts of Wood: I don't screw-up my toons ...

I also play LoTRO: there, if I had to respec a character because of my own fault, I'd have to pay; whenever SSG changes the ruleset, the respec is free.

I am disappointed that things are different here. Wiki tells me I'd have to re-do the character's appearance; HoW-tooltip tells me I'd have to dump my inventory.

    What a nuisance. Good Grief!

I guess I've got a little thinking to do.

Sorry, but Lesser Reincarnation is the only way to get a Domain for clerics that were created before domains were introduced.

With the enhancement trees, you may need to scroll to the right

Default Thanks, GeoffWatson, but, um, scrolling was how I discovered those missing PrE trees.

I am really gratified that community members want to help: it does soften my mood a little.

This is simply rather frustrating, is all: I didn't "drop" DDO out of disinterest, but because RL had become terribly busy; after a couple of DDO-rulesets-updates, returning to "figure-out how to play DDO all over again and probably respec all of my PrE-choices, and confirm Build-orders" had become a bit of a daunting proposition.

RL happens to be "on-hold" right now, for me and a lot of other people (I'm sure we all know why ...) … "Hey! Maybe I'll finally blow the dust off DDO!"

I return to discover this. The "icing on the cake": LR doesn't have a "I want to look exactly the same, thanks" button.

I'll sleep on it, I guess.

    Thanks again.

    You can't without Reincarnation.

But there is another approach: just don't worry about DDO's Domains. All my pre-Domain Clerics are still Domain-less Clerics.

If you're expecting anything like the huge array of options and flexibility that Domains give D&D Clerics, you'd be very disappointed anyway. DDO just gives very little flexibility, and instead just vastly more power creep. Of course, if you're after the power creep, then resign yourself to Reincarnation.

If they ever actually implement domains for real, my ex-Cleric main will return to Cleric.

+0 Heart is a lesser reincarnate and should give you your domains.

That ~would~ make too much sense.

    (@ Lynnabel - you reading this?* )

The only workaround is to take a screenshot or have 2 games up at once, then do your best to recreate the appearance. I've tried this, and it can be a bit of a challenge to get it exact - the only place the lighting is consistent is in the character selection screen, so you take your screenshot there.

Then (using an alt account**, before TR'ing?) whip up a "doppleganger", keeping careful notes of which # details you selected for the subtle ones (eyes, skin color, lips, etc). Doesn't matter the build (go w/ a path for speed, you might have to do this a few times to get it perfect), you're just playing with the variable to match the original. Go "Windowed" mode for side-by-side comparison between the test-double and either the original or the screenshot.

(* Another solution could be a screen (or data dump!) where you can see what variables were chosen for the look in question - Hair #, Hair Color #, Eyes #, etc. If that's easier - better than nothing, which is all we got now.)

(** Free accounts are, well, free. And have several uses other than this one. I'd recommend a "user name" similar to your current one (mainaccount2, or whatever) and the same password, or (again) very similar. Just so you can remember them months/years from now.)

If your Cleric existed before the free Faith feats were updated those also require a Lesser Reincarnation. Might double check if you have an extra LR+0, all characters with at least 1 Cleric level got an extra one during one of the updates.

    Reason
    unsure, double checking
