We have been looking into game performance in recent weeks, and perhaps not surprisingly in recent days as well given the large number of people stopping by, and are currently looking at what our options are. We will let people know when we know more.

Maybe some separate resources to transfer raid instances there? Currently finishing raid even on normal or hard is like r500 ... and every day is much worse. :/

I saw the title of this thread and thought to myself: "there are lag issues?"
I'm playing on an 8 year old cheap laptop with a broken keyboard and extra lag from the USB keyboard.... still managing to cap out....

    Default Serious Issue

    Hello.

I have been experiencing a serious issue about game freeze. When I force/kill the process, the frozen game window wraps anything else and doesnt even let me interact with windows. (Ctrl+alt+delete; alt f4 etc)

The only thing I can do most of the time, when this occurs, is to force windows with ctr alt delete then ctrl+esc and choose restart. (Most of the time I can not even do this becasue somehow dead game window does not let me to pick and kill itself. Also the icons and the background at desktop goes Giant sized) This is pretty annoying to say the least. Sometimes but rare the frozen game window let me pass and kill the process by its own.

This happened before 64 bit a long time ago when there was a big issue which locked the DDO for over a week's time. (as you may remember).

I really hope this is somehow fixed.

Yet again today a full grouped stopped moving for 30+ seconds. I am neither into blaming nor interested in technical reasons - but its hurting the fun of playing rather badly.

I don't think it's as pervasive a problem as some folks make it out to be. I too experience an acceptable amount of lag. But some folks are supposedly impacted greatly and to others any amount of lag is unacceptable.

Pretty sure the only reason I haven’t party wiped on Orien today is cuz I’ve only run one quest today.

Yesterday? I was in 5 or 6 party wipes cuz PCs were stuck in place and incapable of attacking, but mobs could still move around and attack us.

SSGs servers weren’t able to keep up before the sudden increase in traffic, but now it’s just a bogged down mess.

Why are you playing on ORIEN when Hardcore is active?

Cuz I’m not about to invest ANY time on that server given the constant lag issues that plague this game as a whole.

Hardcore is basically a whale milking station anyway.

Even though you had to buy a sub to get in the door, good for you. However I’m not wasting anytime on character development just to have it killed by a dixie cup and yarn server schematic.

While we're glad that you don't experience any lag, it doesn't negate other players' experiences.

(Side note: keyboard and mouse latency is not lag. Entire parties freezing for 30+ seconds in a quest and entire public instances locking up is.)

Thank heavens for solo play.... no lag!

I haven't really experienced any of the lag that others seem to state, though knowing how computers and networks work, nothing surprises me. I know a lot of the issues we're going through at my work right now with Covid and staff working from home is causing nightmares on the VPNs and such.

For me, the worst lag I ever get is a 0.5-1.0 second stall maybe once in a couple of hours of game time. Usually rarer than that. Sometimes in the odd bunches though. Nothing anything like what I hear people describe.

Usually occurs (or is noticed by me anyways) in mob fights.

But... I usually play only in a group of two players (plus 0-4 hirelings/pets), and on Hard to R1. Mostly melee builds without any spellcasters (except healers/clerics which I doubt tax the system as much). My network is decent.

I suspect my gameplay is very low maintenance and unlikely to incur much lag, which is why I never see it in significant sizes. Thankfully.

If it is a large issue for others, it will be nice to see it improved. Keeping more players playing is a good thing overall.. lol.

Thanks for the update Cordovan. Always appreciate it.

Is this a serious statement or sarcasm? I lag lock soloing regularly. Solid high speed internet, SSD gaming laptop with quality graphics card. The lag has been ridiculous.

It has been nice to see more players in the game since they generously opened all to F2P. That was an awesome move SSG. But the down side of it is demonstrating the extent to which the code and servers can no longer handle the load. Mega server?! What a #$2%^show that is gonna be without some massive investment in tidying-up the code and buying more server capacity.

And yes, put a hold on new content and make a solid effort to clean up the game lag wise. You have lost more players than you probably realize to the lag SSG and the pace is accelerating. The bump in population that F2P gains us will be offset when these players see how god-awful the play experience is.
    HELTER SKELTER - Orien

IF SSG has been anything, they’ve consistently shown a rather vengeful streak for those who care the most about their game and try to push the limits. - Shadow_Jumper

One does not preclude the other.

The F2P losses and wins will be irrelevant, because the whales are still there.
    Player numbers do not matter...
    The $$$ matters.

I'm sorry but I need to call BS...not necessarily you but whatever corporate is feeding you ...but like I said in other forum posts what was your excuse for crippling lag the previous 5 months? As for increase in logins...there were a lot more players in game when RL expansion shipped as well as when MOTU.

FIX THIS BROKEN GAME PLS. Best combat in any MMO, yet cookieclicker is more fun atm with the lag.
