DDO Population: A Comprehensive Report

"How many players are online right now?" "What server has the highest population?" There's a significant desire for population information, and for good reason! Maybe you're a new player looking for a solid server to call home. Maybe you're transferring from Hardcore League and want to start a new chapter in an active community. Maybe you're itching to transfer from your current server in search of a new avenue for adventure.

As a result of the positive response I received from previous work, I've decided to take it one step further. Combining my love for DDO, a passion for programming, and an unreasonable amount of free time and personal money, I bring you...

On the site you can

• View live LFM and Who panels for each server
• View population data across the servers
• View detailed server demographic reports
• View time-of-day distributions for each server
• View weekly, monthly, and (eventually) annual reports for each server

I hope you find this website to be a useful and practical addition to the numerous player-produced and maintained tools. If you have any suggestions at all, please don't hesitate to let me know.

Wow, this looks promising. I see Orien and Khyber still far outshine the other servers but at least Thelanis is no longer as low as the last report I saw. They really should swap the default server, though. Orien has more than enough of the pie and it's been the default for ages now.

It was Orien, then Cannith for like a year (which is why it's 2nd, it was highest for a while) and now back to Orien.

I kinda want them to just leave it in one place, and set themes for servers and have a cheap migration period. But who am I?

Anyway, great site! I hope this open's SSG's eyes to the need for this kind of reporting and they build something similar that poles automatically from the servers directly instead of relying on a bunch of bored people to gather statistics themselves.

My suggestion was similar: Move the static groups to different servers than the Puggers. Won't affect the static players, but the puggers would have more people with whom to group.

Of course SSG knows, I'm saying they need to share it with the rest of us. Player population statistics shouldn't have to be gathered manually by bored gamers!

This is a TERRIBLE idea. Static groupers DO sometimes pug, and a lot of static groupers still use other characters to farm things for their static character on the same server. Those characters also pug. Trying to separate out the different types of players by server would only further divide an already badly-divided game. Except maybe the permadeathers, who deserve exactly what they got.

My suggestion was similar: Move the static groups to different servers than the Puggers. Won't affect the static players, but the puggers would have more people with whom to group.

I have a slightly different idea.

Move all of the static groups to one server and move all the puggers to that same server. Won't affect the static players, but the puggers would have more people with whom to group AND the static groupers will be able to pug more easily if they decide they want to (someone misses a day or even a week and wants to catch up to the group)

I like that you have continued to post this data for all to see.

I for one would like to see a few new server launched by SSG with the elimination of TR cache and anything else that might help improve game performance including cross server grouping at least for events, raids, and other occasions.

The new servers would eliminate all dead accounts, tr cache, old mail, dead guilds, and so much more. Old servers would be on but not much usage hopefully.

The new servers should allow free character transfers from old servers and have a message at player log in so they know what has happened to old servers.

Might be possible to have auto redirect to website explaining what has gone on and how to transfer you old characters even if servers are no longer publicly online.
