Best gear for Ravenloft?

Hi folks. I'm a rogue and I already have the Divine Artillery great crossbow, and that's pretty hard to top. But the guy in the village of Barovia gave me a Barovian Great Crossbow. Should I use that instead? It says the damage is slightly less than the Divine Artillery.
Also, I'm assuming my Deneith Silver bolts are probably the best bet for these quests in general? Or would Undead Bane be better?

Barovian weapons are good to go. Anyhow Divine artillery is solid weapon that carries anywhere you go.


Barovian weapons miss ghostbane, paralyzing or vorpal effects (Divine artiller has this and force and flametouch; so pretty solid) and critical range is not improved but they re still solid for most of the content.

Barovian Great/Heavy repeating crossbows, daggers are all good to go for pure rogue. Warhammer, Bastardsword (For THF strength based) are solid for multipurpose builds with martia splash or heavy martial builds with rogue splash.


I would also advice Nightforge Warhammer against constructs. (Gorget is also good) (Deneith quest to Kundarak enclave Black anvil as you may allready know)


Trials of the Archons rewards take time to get but hard to beat for a long time.

You asked about gear or do you just mean weapons? Make sure you have ghostly in your gear and otherwise, until Sharn, Ravenloft will be BiS. I think you are doing these quests over level?

I guess weapons and gear both. Basically I'm wondering what the ideal combination of great crossbow and bolt type would be. The Deneith silver bolts are cheaper than crafting my own Holy Bolts, but if the Holy Bolts add more punch, they would be worth it. I just don't want to waste a bunch of cannith essences crafting them if they would be no more effective than Deneith silvers.

For my other gear, I have the Ravens Eye and Vulkoor's Cunning sets from the Red Fens, and the Mist-Laden Vestment for my armor, and the Cursebane Focus trinket.

And yes, I'm over level, but running them solo, so it's still challenging enough to be fun. What is BiS?

BiS = best in slot

you want the belt and cloak from ravenloft

that makes up the set

belt is +7 dex and blurry - braided cutcord

cloak is ghostly + deception and hide/ms - shadowhail cloak

holy bolts are nice...... they stack with holy from bav.

i dont see how bav xbow will beat artillery but thats just me.

Thanks. And yes, that Silent Avenger set looks awesome. That's my goal for the next few days.

Divine Artillery seems like the way to go. So far I've just been using Deneith silver bolts, but I'll be running these quests a second time through over the next few days and I'll see how the Holy Bolts work. This adventure is awesome.
