Did not want to start a new thread everyday ... so Day2 starts here :-)

How did you do today?

Me - level 7, no deaths ...yet
I want to take a serious shot at the favor award this time so am being careful and over-leveling as much as allowed.
but I am solo so it all equals out.

Firewalls and stoneskin finally ...YAH!

The only 'store' help I allow myself is a gold seal rogue.
Only in dungeons where trap disarm is mandatory. (traps can not be bypassed)

Day one, still alive, almost 5 (but will be playing low-level quests for Favor for a while).

Sounds like you'll be 20 before you know it!

Hobgoblin Shaman got me in 3rd part of STK. Lvl 5 Bladeforged Paladin.

Same thing gets me every time. Overconfidence. Never got past 7 on the first HC season. Probably wont on this one either

9 was my fatal level every time in season 1.

Plague Reaper took me down, but a Rat actually got the final blow. It showed me dying by a rat. Ugh....

Would of felt better if it shown the reaper got me.

Either that was you I commented on in /World dying to a rat, or you weren't the only one. My comment was something about being concerned that *I* would be the one with the most embarrassing death of the server.

I'm going to regret typing this on the forums as it might reveal too much about how DDO works, but... those are 99% likely to be deaths due to trap damage. I can try to get an exception in that overrides self-death to a best guess at what killed you, but traps in DDO don't actually deal damage, they politely ask your avatar to damage themselves.

Does that mean the damage is modified in any way by your character? I.e., does a more powerful character take more damage? That would be funny, though a little concerning.

Got to level 7, gnome wiz. And I'm just about on the leaderboard for favour, as of writing. I'm sure I'll get knocked off soon though as I'm going to bed now.

Haven't felt threatened at all yet, which is how it went last time. Monsters can barely damage me. The real danger will be in a few more levels when traps start to get more vicious.

Last time I died at level 9 and then 10 to traps. The only way I see out (other than insightful reflexes which is auto-take anyway) is to get loads of hitpoints. So I'm taking every hit point bonus I can in enhancements, and have already taken toughness twice. My hp at level 7 is 224, which I'm pretty pleased with. I have high hopes!

Haven't played DDO since the Shroud was new. My brother has kept up in the time since, told me about it and I decided to jump back in. Got a Warlock to level 2 and enjoying myself! Things have certainly changed a whole lot since I last played, hehe.

Day one, cannith is getting more empty every minute.

As premium player, who already got all expansions packs, adventure packs, classes, races etc., Who could participate in HC, there's no point for me to buy VIP just for some cosmetics and 10% XP..

Learned from the first time around and I'm just avoiding traps whenever possible. It's not that you can't build a character with strong defenses against traps or a ton of hp's. It's that 1's happen and you can't predict when and where and you'll die to them often.

So hippity, hopping around traps by whatever means necessary not to be in the line of fire and never approaching known traps that I don't have too. No chest or optional is worth a 5% chance of dying in hardcore.

Day 1: Made about a dozen first level toons. Started with THAC0, a ranger/FvS build that was blowing through reaper keep and harbor until a mid-air lag spike over a normally easy to avoid fire trap in Smuggler's wherehouse. Had level 5 banked at the time.

Day 2: Running Solestone In Your Pack, a clunky Frankenstein rog/Arty/alch. Several close calls but party members and luck kept me up. Hit # 18 on the reaper board before signing off with level 7 banked to go Zerg Korthos on Carnage, a barbarian.

Logged into Orien to farm a legendary family sigil.

I made my plea on the main forum thread to allow Premium limited access to HCS
I will just add it once per season until the powers that be throw them a bone.

This explains why you can die sometimes when you are NOWHERE near a trap (as evidenced by where your soulstone spawns). I always thought this was caused by massive lag spikes, but now that we know traps cause your avatar to damage itself... perhaps sometimes that command is whispered whereas other times it is shouted.

I got nailed in a trap today at the end of quest. i joined late and didn't realize they all had electrical resistance items on. Needless to say, I was lev 8 and playing very carefully until then...and I saw they had an arti and a rogue, and I even asked if traps were disarmed. All I got was, oops, I forgot that one. was kinda mad, but I should know better not to join a quest that a: I don't know the pug folks, and b: I just don't know the quest well. As my main is a monk, I normally laugh at traps, but this stuff is legit.

I may try again later, but I am feeling down in the dumps right now.

Oh well, back to the main server (echo, echo...) lol

methodically farming favor for awards and favor leader board.
solo - with a couple of hirelings as needed.

Not touching Reaper with a 10FT dungeon pole :-P

Given warning of hard core I could have planned the shifts differently… played and paid.

My stay-in-the-hall crafter is a comfy 5 now. I haven't knuckled down and started burning essences yet, so crafting level still a non-thing.

My Rog'lock is out getting things done, currently 5 as well soloing the harbor with perma-Elieri faithfully at his side.

Last season tried evasive melee characters. Probably was a big part of my tendency to die at level 9. Back to long-range basics this season for me.
