is this replacing the 2x weekly we have been doing? or adding to it so we have 3 days of restarts?
This is currently planned to be the only weekly restart going forward. We believe work done before the holidays will have allowed us to reduce back to a single weekly restart without endangering server performance back to unacceptable levels. We will monitor the effect this has over the next few weeks.
You'd be wrong. Lag was bad, really bad, this weekend.
In almost every mission I ran Sunday, we experienced one (sometimes more) periods of 60s+ stuttering and rubber banding. Multiple deaths were caused by said periods of lag. I also saw multiple people mention they were logging off due to frustration with the lag and the deaths throughout the day.
It also wasn't just my group. People in other groups and raids were complaining of the same lag in some of the shared chat channels.
Yeah, I mustered all of my self control not to post regarding the hellatious lag from the weekend. This is really gonna be horrid. The game is already bleeding end-gamers and raid related peeps due to the lag. While a group might recover in an EE run after a 20 sec full group lag lock, it's a complete wipe in higher skulls and many raids.
Cordo, have the devs considered 'pimping' out Lamania for groups/guilds to rent for raiding, high skull questing? Might be a possible cash cow if the main servers continue in their current condition. We joke all the time now about a Gland 'sign-up' sheet for peeps to reserve raid times to not cause lag for one another. The servers can't handle more than one raid group at a time without a noticeable loss in performance and that's with the 2 starts/week.

I couldn't take it anymore,
Cancelled DDO and started up a ESO subscription.
Give me a call if you get your act together enough so I can actually play the game.

Thank you very much for the announcement and the details dear Cordovan and Cocomajobo.
I hope all goes well.
Yeah I did the same thing after hardcore. Its like they just make it up as they go along. Until there is a serious change in game lag being fixed this game has to be free to play for me as well.
Try doing the Too Hot Too Handle Raid on anything other than norm and the whole raid crashes no matter how fast you kill stuff.

QoL issues like airship aside, I just wish they put it closer to the weekend. Wednesday might help Friday raids, but I don't think they will last for Saturday night unless the changes are new to this week. Friday shutdowns the last 2 weeks lasted till Sunday/Monday. Lets hope they review this soon.
Personally if only 1 shutdown then I think it best Thursday or Friday just to keep weekend raids going, or Mondays so by close of business Thursday they would know if another is required to get through the weekend. Middle of the week makes them out of office when the lag hits, and by the time they get back it is almost time to do it again so why bother doing it early. I have not clue what goes into it on their end, but I just feel they may have picked a less then ideal day if the lag only stays away for 2-3 days.
Maybe they will keep this thread open, or have some set place for us to post when the lag starts hitting. My money is on Saturday night, based off shutdown last Friday lasting 48-72 hours prior to lag being a problem. Prove me wrong.
I would have a sig, but Someone might be offended by it so I will just list characters.

Joking aside, what are you short term plans to get rid of the crippling lag? I know of at least 3 or 4 people that have ran with regularly that were vip that cancelled their subs and quit or taking a break from the game. Raiding anything higher then EH is basically a roll of the dice nowadays with them being loaded to lags favour
So Saturday Night is here, so is the lag. Wow I am so surprised. Is only someone had said something about this earlier...
Well see you all Wednesday night for raids.... oh wait I work during the week and can't stay up all night... Well I guess I will raid again SOON™...
Anyone know any games that will take my money for allowing me to play them how I want, when I want? Oh right, EVERY other game out there does that, guess that is where DDO is special.
