Low-Mid Epic Gear

Everyone posts end-game gear, but what are people using for low/mid epic gear? I understand the new Sharn gear at lvl17-19. Yet, is there gear out there people are swapping to before level 29? Or are they just riding that heroic gear all the way to end game gear, which is what I am finding myself doing most of the time.

This is highly dependant on what class you are and build. There are tons of options out there and if you are not running the harder difficulties then almost anything will work.

Keep on the Borderland recently added a bunch of level 21 gear.
As a sorcerer you might be interested in the Epic Sceptres of (Element), Bracers of the Eagle (+10 Cha) and several other items.

Im wearing Sharn gear for my main set (whatever that set bonus happens to be for my build) plus a cannith crafted +10/+4 primary stat item plus a +10/+4 Con item if I have room for it.

Other bonuses come from either a Sharn item (deception, accuracy, etc) or a Keep on the Borderlands item for element power or some specific bonus.

I wish there were a Ravenloft/Sharn quality item set for low epics. Maybe someday. Honestly, Most low epic gear is so bad that I was running with heroic Ravenloft gear through mid epics until Sharn came out.


by the way, make sure to grab the FoM boots from Keep on the Borderlands if you don’t have a reliable
source of FoM.

This is true and i should have specified a little: I am referring to using the sorcerers elemental forms. If you were choose a specific element and or universal to cover all elements.
I find it hard breaking up the sets (lvl 15 and or 17) before level 25ish because the gains are small vs what you lose. On the other hand, the element power starts really tapering off if you don't improve the gear.

Let's assume 41 odd points in Fire and 17 odd points in Tiefling or another racial tree.

Then Your gear at say 23 depends a lot on a couple things:
-> if you plan on meleeing. (then you need accuracy, deadly, seeker, doulestrike, advisably some better armor)
-> Do you plan on casting a secondary element (like electricity).
-> Do you plan on casting lots of DC based spells?

It basically depends on where you want to stick the 25 odd enhancement AP (electrical or EK).

I found that on my stock Tiefling sorc, I cast the electrical stuff only a bit and needed better armor for survive-ability but I didn't really melee much. So I ended taking 6 in EK and the rest in elec.

I'm not great with casters but have a look at the level 20 Cannith Challenge items. Once upgraded they are pretty decent and come with augment slots.

23-28, you want the Sharn set of your choice plus a pair of caster scepters for nuking (I like Flamecleansed Fury) plus a Legendary Shroud +Crit Multiplier item somewhere that fits in with your endgame gear and a Cannith crafted Con and a Cannith crafted Cha item. Everything else is gravy.

Your Slaver gear should just be whatever you're going to actually use at cap since making another Slavers item for just one level (28) is super lame. Just use whatever you'll continue to wear at 29 and 30.
