My main is currently L18 and rapidly approaching the point of TR into a Deep Gnome Inquisitive to-be-Wiz18/Art2. (I have a Ratcatcher all ready to go.)
Putting 41AP into Inquisitive and 12AP into Harper is pretty much mandatory, that sorts the actual Inquisiting and +Int to hit and damage, with Know the Angles along the way.
I've seen several suggestions on what to do with the remaining (in my case, thanks to tomes) 29 points - one recommending Eldritch Knight 6, to the first Imbue, and the remainder in Pale Master to improve self-healing and Shroud. Another was to go only 6 into Pale Master to get the self-healing, then push EK up to 21 for improved imbues and some SLA defences. Yet a third was to invest in the Deep Gnome tree for crossbow bonuses. (And there are probably options I haven't even looked at - further into Harper? Use the Artificer splash to get a few crossbow bonuses?)
The plan is for this to be a solo build and to do 20-30 Epic Reincarnation laps a few times before dropping back to do some Racial lives made easier by the Epic Past Life passives.
As far as I can tell, the advantages of each are as follows:
- Eldritch Knight: greater imbue damage, enough ASF reduction to make heavy armour an option, a couple of SLAs-with-benefits
- Pale Master: more shroud customisation, more neg healing amp, possibly a pet
- Deep Gnome: SLAs, crossbow bonuses (though the threat range bonuses for Inquisitive are competence as well, so I assume they don't stack?)
Any advice would be appreciated!
