Default Are bags going to be on sale this week?

It says that select bags will be 25% off this week, but I don't see a single bag of any kind on sale. Are bags going to be included in this week's sale?

Shared storage is on sale. Not regular or bags from what I see.

According to this post, we're supposed to get 25% off on "Select Bags," whichever those are.

    Exactly.

I just checked too - lots of bags of all types and colors, not a one on sale.

Sorry, somehow I put bad copy into this week's promo by adding select bags. Select Bags are not on sale. I have now corrected the copy.

Honestly Cordovan, this is the wrong way to handle this.

The right way to solve this would be to say sorry, bags was not intended to be on sale this week, but we will add bags to the sale anyway. Then people would think, awh, that is nice of them, and buy some bags.

Now the people that wanted bags will continue to be dissapointed, and not buy anything.

You make people feel bad, you should make people feel good instead.

Normally, I would be inclined to agree but lets consider that those people who would add the bags might be on holidays right now. A little consideration goes a long way - in both directions.

    Someone is always on holiday....

Are they supposed to check with everyone to make sure what they are putting on sale is convenient for the entire gaming population?

Talking about the people making the changes to store on break.

Disagreed. You're presuming facts not in evidence, namely that Cordo can change the sale items.

Right - and if the people who can make the change in the Store are on holiday (or, as is very likely, just gone for the weekend), then, since Cordo can't change the Sale*, inargueably the best move is to take down that "bags on sale" notice - at least until Monday, or next Thursday's sale.

(* Never had the impression that he has both unilateral control over these decisions and the technical permission and access (and know-how) to make those changes himself on short notice.)

No one said the change needed to be made right then and there, or right here and now.

A change could be made after a chat with the appropriate people. Even if it had to wait until Monday, that result would have been better than what we have now and would have shown SSG is more dedicated to customer service than it appears they are at this time.

    Yeah, people kinda did.

By his own admission, Cordo made a mistake, it happens.

So, he becomes aware of the mistake. At that point, he had several choices...

    1) Ghost us, ignore it. (Irresponsible, bad for us, bad for SSG relations)

    2) Change it to "Bags are now on sale" (probably not possible, from a coding point of view, for him to do)

    3) Say "Bags WILL be on sale Monday!" (possibly doesn't have the unilateral authority to make that decision, puts his co-workers in a "now you must do this" position - bad for him. Worse for us and SSG if they say "nope" on Monday.)

    4) Say "My bad, bags are not on sale" (honest, realistic, painless - some confusion, but no one loses anything real)

Several people have posted that #3 is, in their opinion, the proper course of action. Pfft. That's bad for him if he doesn't have the authority, bad for SSG if they didn't want to put bags on sale, bad for in-house relations - just "bad" for everyone except those selfish few who only care about getting bags on sale NOW.

If people can't overlook an honest mistake, well, "Ha! HA!!! You said bags, we get bags! No take backs!!!" is hardly a reasonable response, imo, but you do you.

He had more options than this.

Bags are part of the regular sale rotation. Maybe they're already up next week anyway.

The whole point of a rotation is you don't have all your goodies on sale at once and then three weeks of nothing worthwhile.

I understand the impulse for instant gratification, but there's a hangover effect too. Sometimes the studio needs to save the players from themselves or the rats will just keep pushing the heroin button.

I implied it heavily above in one on my previous posts but I'll spell it out for you.

    5) Cordo could have had a chat (email exchange, whatever) with the Brand Manager, DDO Store Manager, or whoever the appropriate person was, about this situation and could have asked that the advertised special be honored. The appropriate person (SSG_RedPanda or whomever) could then have gotten the needed permission and made the change to the price in the DDO Store this morning. At that time, Cordo could have have posted an apology on the Forums and said something like, "Sorry, somehow I put bad copy into this week's promo by adding select bags. I made a mistake. But, in order to make things right, we have decided to put select bags on sale anyway until the current sale ends this Thursday. Enjoy the rest of your holidays!"

If SSG_RedPanda didn't get permission to make the change, Cordo could have responded with, "Sorry, somehow I put bad copy into this week's promo by adding select bags. I spoke to SSG management about honoring the advertised special anyway but the decision was made to not change the price on select bags for this particular sale. I apologize for the mix-up, but rest assured, we will put select bags on sale at some time in the future."

Honestly, they should have put everything on sale for the month of December. Even if it was only 25% off. And have double bonus points as well. Might as well make as much money as they can for the end of the year. Were not all whales, but a lot of us would spend some cash if they did this.
