    Default Harassment Help needed

Does in-game help not work anymore? I just get a blank screen.

I need help with a harassing player. He joins the group but doesn't respond and doesn't enter the right quest. He goes into 3BC and the fire caves quest and sets it to public, which changes my LFM. He did this twice. Instead of responding to my requests for him to drop group (he did this twice), he posts random things like " i have jump spell caster level 2" and " i have jump spell caster level 2". He is playing a fighter 4, druid 2. His solo quests prevent me from filling his spot with a contributing player.

He keeps entering different quests and summoning different hirelings. I'm telling him what he is doing is wrong and he should start a new group if he won't join my quest. He's either very clueless or is doing this on purpose.

we have those in sarlona. he may be a child or doesn't speak english. i wouldn't say its harassment, or at least it can't be proven to be anything. Best to just think he may have a mental disorder. just don't accept him to your group.

yes, in game help doesn't often work for me too. Blank screen as well.

Then maybe don't let him into your groups? Seriously, what's the problem here?
CS doesn't handle cases like this, you're just going to have to put on your big boy pants and deal with it yourself.

Probably the best solution to this type of situation is the simply employ the "/squelch {character name here}". This will prevent that character from ever joining one of your lfm's in the future.

When running into players like that or similar, remember reforming a group, while it takes a little time and hassle it is still like less then waiting for them to be in a position where you can remove them from the party.

and if you cant kick him from your group because he is in a quest, then you announce to the group that you are reforming the party. then you drop group and put up another lfm, accept the other players that were co-operating and dont accept him back in.

Maybe he/she uses you as an opener? Happened to me once or twice. As said above /squelch helps.

    Cheers,
    Titus.

while i agree there are solutions in this scenario that don't require CS, surely we can agree it's not a good thing for players to have no timely recourse when harassment does occur

While I agree there should be a recourse for harassment, I would point out that the situation the OP outlined (going only by what they posted) is annoyance but I think at a single instance it falls short of being harassment. Sure it could become harassment.

I think the existing tools given to the players is sufficient to handle this annoyance. If the other player decides to cross that line of annoyance to harassment then yes at that time I believe SSG has an obligation to help remedy the situation.

Thanks for all of the advice. Yes, I'm an adult and can deal with it myself, and yes, a more timely solution would have been preferred.
He did it more than one time and also more than once when he was in group. I let him know he's not welcome in my groups. He sent tells telling me to let him back in.
I know I can reform. I was soloing Spies on a high difficulty, thinking he was coming to help. I preferred to complete and then remove him instead of wasting the time I'd already put into the quest since it was late at night.
I've had a habit for YEARS of having public LFMs. I'll have to go to private now.
I was able to report him after he sent me a tell.

Thanks VERY much for the suggestion of using /squelch.

Yeah, stuff happens. Sometimes someone will go afk without comment - not always intentional, or conscious. /reform group is the only reliable solution.

I had some <expletive> join a group for a Level 5 quest on Reaper - LFM clearly said "Level 4-5", and I didn't check his level - he was 10 (this was under the old rules). Destroyed the BB and crushed our RXP. When I finally noticed, he just said "I didn't know"... not sure how that's possible, but whatever.

Now I try to remember to check levels.

Nah, don't let one idiot's actions change yours. It's frustrating, sure, but just use /ignore and move on. If you go private, you're doing the larger community (and yourself) a disservice.
