    Default Radical suggestion #3

Back in the day, there was a DM guideline/rule: always give the monster an even break.

I suggest that player race foes (Duergar, for example) should be allowed equal weaponry (repeating crossbows, runearms, for example) and equal training on that weaponry. Champions and bosses only, perhaps. Plus, that weaponry would drop (%) in that foe's remnant chest.

Imagine a red crown Beast Mark with vorpal repeater.

Sure, and while you're at it, give them an "even break" qua hit points, so they only get up to 2000 or so.

Oh, and mob packs max out at 6 monsters, 12 for raids.

coming back after the champ/reaper changes i've been pleasantly surprised with the challenge level posed by erstwhile trash - still not as significant as bosses, but way more interesting than they used to be. i feel like we're in a pretty good spot

That's the best part of DDO in my opinion - you can run it at whatever difficulty you like. If you are winning 100% of the time, then bump up the difficulty level. If you're already steamrolling foes on R10, then run it under level.

There is another thread where players are bragging about their 'effective' hit points being around 100,000.

Monster ehp at-level for them would dwarf that significantly still

You can't compare player ehp to mob raw hp. They get better defenses than we do too on higher reaper.

I could see a new kind of mob - a "dark adventurer" - that was scaled more like a player, so high high dps, layered defense, optimized skill/spell options, and low hp - as a hand crafted challenge, create more of a PvP type fight, but not a universal rebalance of all monsters.

Npcs with Slow spell, high fortification and chosing the best attack or spell against the weakest stat (calculating vs class combo of player) would be killer. Boss Beholder's and Boss Wraiths of old times and some Boss Trolls ares still nasty at higher settings.

Imagine them bypassing immunties and absorbtion from items and enhancements.
