    Default Mounts

So I farmed up a horse, tried it out in 3bc, since I was going there anyway, and I suppose it was OK, but you can't fight from it, and that was what I was there to do, so that didn't work out so well, and besides, it didn't really seem all that fast, but I could be wrong because I'm not used to traveling on a horse.

Of course, once you have horses, it won't be long before you will have wolves, bears, cows, and mules as mounts. And bloodhounds for gnomes. And raptors, of course.

One huge benefit that I have noticed: where you had jerks clipping you at the bar, now you have jerks on horses clipping you at the bar. Nice.

One more thing: while you can't fight from a mount, you can take damage.

    Well, yes, I didn't think it wasn't.

But, I have learned to love my mount, because it makes running explorer/slayer a lot faster when you run through fast and draw a mob following you then dismount and blast them away and do that again while you are moving to explorer point after explorer point and it works really good with a rune arm when you equip a tool set with rune arm and repeater while charging your rune arm to dismount then use an empty tool set to sheath and then remount, of course you map the tool set to easily reached hot keys, I use G to arm and X to disarm.

Also, it appears that running through water does not slow down the mount.

    Default Invisible?

Invisibility spell doesn't work on mounts. The rider fades out, mount is visible, but may draw less attention from mobs. Tested running through wilderness area, had less mobs show up at quest entrance.

It also appears that Red Skulling does not affect your movement speed on a mount.

    This is correct.

DA move penalty is ignored when mounted.

Also, you go at normal speed in shallow water (IMHO shallow water speed penalty is one of worst mechanics DDO uses, can't describe how happy I was to see mounts ignore it)

You cannot dismount while swimming in deep water.

Hey ddo folks, how hard would it be to do a few horse recolors? 4 seems like kind of a small choice to me. Couldn't we have a dappled grey and a pinto, or the same four with the colors switched (light brown mane with a dark brown horse, etc.) Or some combination thereof? A little variety?

I noticed that there seems to be no run penalty when going through a small river with a horse.
"You are a Tiefling. And a Cleric, with the Domain of the Sun. Doesn't that contradict each other ?" "No, all my friends are playing evil. I found that so boring that I decided to be on the good side. And, besides, Sun and Fire, where is the difference, really ?"

I wish there was an option to exchange the horses based on looks.. certainly down low on the to do list for the devs but it would be nice.
