Default This is how I farmed enough feathers quickly

Start at the Keep and follow the red line. Be sure to pick up the Crest at the Spider rare, Lizard man rare, and then run to the tower for the bat crest. Ddoor when you get to the harpy rare and then follow the green line. Rinse and repeat. This is how I got the feathers for the four basic horses, this took me 3-4 hours.

If you dont have D-door, run it clockwise instead.

Thanks to Guildies for helping to prefect the route.

    Default Very misleading

Saying quickly is up to rng. My friends and I ran the exact same route x7. In the end of those 7 runs one of my friends had the most at 13, I had 11, our other friend had 9. The appearance of rares is abysmal. Not once did we see Torq. Only once did we see Harpy. One run we had only 2 rares show and one of those was the crest chest which I think is 100% chance. Im sure this map will help some players to get there feathers, but quickly.....

Also, how did you get enough feathers for 4 basic horse? It takes 15 feathers per horse... There are 14 rares... 7 chest opens is ransack or is it 8? That sir is some awesome luck!! 60 feathers!? Wowsers.

Getting as many feathers as you and your friends got in only 7 runs is pretty good. How long did each run take you? I am not sure how long each run took me and my friends, but I know we ran a lot more then 7 times.

Maybe I did get lucky. Also it is annoying you can not trade the feathers in the chest. Here is a link to cosmetics of the 4 basic horses. https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...=1#post6265374

I did this with friends and guild mates.

Each run Id say took roughly around 15+ minutes and as high as 30 since we were enjoying discovering everything. So probably around two and a half hours for those feathers.

    Super quick (but cut-down) version:
Enter Wilderness from Hall of Heroes, choose Outside teleport option
    Lurp > Vassmath > Pinchy > Longtalon > Torg > Lemmie
    Recall, reset, repeat

I got a horse from the wilderness rares, tho Pinchy, Longtalon and Lemmie never showed up, after several runs, i just ran past these, and went up to the harpy.

Some rares seem rarer than others, almost always had Vassmath show up, and frequenly Torq.

I ran the big route, checking all the rares but I started from NW, practically the other way around. I broke the 1500 slayers b4 I had 15 feathers. I was ranged so a pretty much didn't have to stop for killing. So I got feathers, slayers and items. But it is not a "fast" farming. At least not for me.

    Cheers,
    Titus.

My preferred route is south to spiders via Lurb and Keenbeak and grab the spider crest. NNE to the Lizard men camp for the rare and the crest. North to the tower for the bat crest. Northwest to the alter for the guarenteed Grublub and a chance for a feather and the Stone Heart trinket.

I like your theory, Ill add it to my list right between Einstiens pagiarisms and space lizards. Ive run this route over a dozen times, getting near two(?), and didn't know there was a harpy.(Ive since found it).

My tips from running this. (thanks as some of these are directly stolen from above comments.)
    1) if you don't have Ddoor -- change your ED to shadowdancer for Ddoor. (recalling to get back to start will drop the crests from where ever you recalled.)
    2) running on HC instead of Epic will allow you to re-roll chests for a single AS instead of 9.
(the only difference is that you can't get he named trinket, and the ingots you get are normal instead of epic. This is for crafting the weapons from the weapon smith. meh)
    3) getting the magic horseshoe to get faster mount is only in the Epic version of the quest chests, not wilderness - so don't fret it.
    4) don't follow the full path of the image in OP. Its faster to do just the southeast circle crabbing those rares and crests. (I ignored the SW watermill one at the top of the mountain, and DDoor'ed at Hallyas. ) if you ransack (hitting the same chest 7 times) before getting enough feathers, do the 2 ones just going north from city. Or:
    5) mounts are BTC, but feathers are BTA - and the HC version is level 3, so yea... runspeed of char is much more relevant than how geared/strong a char is for farming. (presuming you can kill the rares..)
    6) Shadow walk scrolls are your friend. run faster, and targeting the chests of the rares with 'q' from a distance - and if you can target chest, than there is a rare there to kill. sold Object Desire in House Phiarlan - 165pp
    7) if I had to do this again, I'd probably quickly create an iconic PDK 1 ftr, 1 barb, 13 bard. grab shadow walk, ddoor spells as bard, runspeed action boosts. and just run this with the free gear on Heroic difficulty.
    8) There is a lot of running here, so what would make this farming go fast? A mount.

Enjoy, Finn. thanks to OP, and all the helpful comments.

Big thanks to everyone who worked on this guide.
Knowing map and locations of rares had increased my farming speed considerably.

Nice work! Thank you for sharing.

I dont want all Horses, but since you got them, could you please be so kind and post Screenshots how they look before I decide.

Is their size depending on the race that rides it?

    Appreciate the answers

    Cheers
    Aeron

If that is the case, my bad.

No, the black one and the white one are not available for feathers, use the player links in this thread to see what the available ones look like

    https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...Cosmetic/page2

Or post #28 on page 2 of this thread.

(edit - I have heard of a white horse variant only awarded on Daily Dice rolls)
