    Default Longbow and Shortbow

    Hello. I wish you all a good time.


    I would like to add my humble brainstorming about how to upgrade the performance of good old bows since crossbows allready get big attention. I would like to add my ideas aswell as your own ideas to the list.

    My humble opinion is to aid any type of bow user regardless of their class.

    1) To please remove the must have Pointblankshot feat for Bows before getting Rapidshot (For only Longbow and Shortbow)

    2) Rapidreload now works for Long and Shortbows under Rapidredraw effect.

    3) Quickdraw speed bonus now applies to bows (except crossbows)

    4) Shot on the run Passive effect (BAB 12-Requires Feats: Dodge, Rapidshot, Precision. Requires; wielding Longbow or Shortbow) adds +%15 morale bonus to movement speed and +%15 bonus hit , and %6 morale bonus/chance to slow enemy npc target's movement and attack speed applying -%30 for 5 seconds. %5 dodge and maximum dexterity bonus for armor. These bonuses are applied only when you wield a Longbow or Shortbow. There is 6 seconds cooldown for the all bonuses listed above, if you swap to any type of weapon that is not a Longbow or Shortbow.

    5) Strengthbow Lets your Strength bonus applied to Longbow and Shortbow damage and lets you use Rage while the Precision feat is running.

    6) Precision feat is not cancelled if you are using a (non cross) bow and under the effect of Barbarian rage, rage spell or Bardic rage.

    7) Feat Bowmastery/Applied only to Non crossbows (Toggle effect at BAB 12) Lets you drop the draw speed of bows (-%30 slower reload and aim) and sacrifices -%5 movement speed to your character.Anyhow, the feat adds +%15 to hit, +%15 to bypass fortification, +1 threat and critical multiplier to Longbow and Shortbow.

    Shot on the Run absolutely needs an intervention it has always been inferior for the feat costs .


    Alternatively to passive stats:

    A) It could be an active ability, say similar cool down to uncanny dodge, and do some short burst of run speed and doubleshot/multishot.

    It is a bit tricky to represent a turn based: Move Shoot Move, action . Since we are already doing just that RT, so I guess it has to be some sort of special move and shot, or whatever best represents these TBAs, which is probably a doubleshot boost connected to sprint boost.

    B) Could be something like, every time you use an activated Ranged Attack (eg: Aimed Shot, True Strike , etc..). There is a 15__25% chance to trigger a short buff of movement speed and doubleshot. Passive: While a ranged weapon is equipped: +5% ranged alacrity, +5% base movement speed.

    my thought on longbow an shortbow is add more dblshot items in the game ,like dblstrike is ,u have dblstrike items at 15% + at lvl 20 but only dblshot items at +9% at lvl 30 ,come on give rangers some love ,bow master would be great also in a ranger only feat.rangers AA an DW are the most adept at longbow an short bow an longbow an shortbow are 1 of the slowest weapons in the game ,maybe even speed up the fire rate ? thats just my thought ,btw rangers need to kite the mobs so they are not tanks,well AA an DW are snipers an they need to shoot on the move,, an as far as cross bows ,an repeating cross bows ,they have a shorter reload than a longbow or shortbow ,u can not load a crossbow in R/L faster than u can a longbpw or shortbow an a repeating crossbow is not all that accurate,so buff the long bowan shortbow or debuff the crossbow an repeating crossbows

    I am also in for a revamp for the heroic and mid heroic feats for the bow users in general, regardeless of the class or the items set collection.

    Short bows being a little quicker to fire would be nice, eg: 5 + Bow Enhancement % to Ranged Alacrity, inherently.

    Some nice inherent bonus to composite bow as well, making them [1d6+1] and [1d8+1] is a minor but nice enough buff.

    The short bow should be usable on horse back, along with spears and scimitars. Just an idea for future development. Also, horses should have knock down or overrun ability.

    I know, not topic of the thread.

    Something simpler: all pluses of arrows and bows should stack.

    Nice ideas. Scimitar and Kukris and Morningstars... some of those other type of weapons I also like. Anyhow I would prefer to stick to the main subject which is Longbow and Shortbow feats and specialities.

    Arrows and quivers scaling from 1-30 would be another popular thing to have, even craftable quivers would make perfect sense. Quivers are nearly as common items as belts or cloaks, i mean the process to make them does not take any more materials, effort, skill or magic to make :P. Yet in DDO world they are like the scarcest object of only myths and legends lolz.

    Magic returning arrows much like throwing weapons could appear in the randomly generated drop system, they could appear at larger level gaps, so to make the stacks of ammo still relevant, say 3-4 levels behind, +1 returning ammo could be produced in level 3-4 treasure chests and NPC rewards. Appearing as mastercrafted and wondrous would make them super decent loots.

    Then rarer uniqu returning arrows can drop as named loot as well, this would make sense for each ammo type really.
