Destroy Night Revels Ingredients to prevent AH scams

What is the purpose of letting last years ingredients exist all year but not work for this year's Night Revels?

I read that older Night Revels ingredients decay, which I took to mean they are removed from inventory. So when I saw some Night Revels Ing listed on the shard exchange, I thought they were somehow different, BECAUSE THEY WERE STILL IN EXISTENCE. So I paid several hundred Astral Shards to by a few thousand, and now they don't work. I'll take the hit for assuming "wrong", but I'm only playing this game to help my wife distract from chemo, I bought them so she could spend less time farming them (she was excited about getting a Pumpkin Head all summer).

While I don't mind someone ripping me off (because I misunderstood), SSG IS PARTY TO THIS SCAM because they allow unusable ingredients to remain in the game to be sold to unsuspecting customers. Why?

So, please consider making this year's ingredients ACTUALLY persishable, removed from all inventory by say Jan or Feb 2020, if you don't intend for them to be usable in in Oct 2020

I assume your wife wanted to get the: Jack-O-Lantern cosmetic. That needs: 120 Chocolates and 50 of each of the 4 types of "reward" ingredients.

You are obviously talking about bidding upon expired; 'Melted Chocolates' or 'Rusted Night Revels Keys'. I suspect you purchased Pieces of expired: 'Melted Chocolate' instead of: 'Pieces of Darkest Chocolate' purely because of the stack size mentioned.

They are clearly named differently but some pranksters post those items hoping people (bidders) won't read the description.

In previous years the rest on the reward ingredients, i.e. Pinch of Sinister Cinnamon, Spooky Almond, Black Apple, Shadowy Caramel and Spectral Dragon Scale. Have been BtA, which prevented them being posted on the Auction Houses. So any of the later posted on the AH are bona fide for this year. Albeit next year you might get people trying to sell the 2019 items in 2020.

You're right, so they can make the item change the name to rusted/melted but they don't want to make it unbankable and unable to be posted on AH/ASAH

They ahould turn to ashes/dust if they don't want to make it disappear after removing from bank/cache

Exactly. I don't think SSG meant to enable ripping us off this way, so I'm hoping they will look at making perishable ingredients actually perish.

IIRC the reason why they do it this way is because their global destruction wasn't hitting ingredients in bags or TR banks, so they did the name update thing because it actually worked. Yes, though, it's kind of an ugly hack.

They may simply be able to make it so that deprecated ingredients can't be posted to the auction house.

That makes sense. Obviously, they didn't idiot proof it (lol) but in my defense, there is a +1 heal trinket that also says something close to "no one would want this".

Good news is I see this years ingredients say they will expire by end of 2019, so either someone was already on the ball re this or they listened to my suggestion.

That was the same thing written in last years. At least the one hour clickys. They last for about 10-11 months though if im not mistaken
