Default Windows Graphic Issue When exiting DDO

    Hello,

Old player came back, got my account straight. Now having issues with exiting DDO into windows 10. When I exit DDO my windows screen is mostly Green and can't see anything, until I restart my computer thru memory.

I have installed all the DirectX run times from windows DirectX. Enabled Direct play, Checked dxdiag shows 12 is running. I have all max settings on the Graphic Options.

    Anyone have a resolution?

A few things. First what is your video card specifically. I remember when win 10 anniversary edition was first released other games had issues where those with AMD cards had to go and make sure to turn of the Xbox Game DVR inside windows (win 10 anniversary edition had that as a new "feature") and then to make sure to update their drivers. It might be a similar issue.

    Mybad,

duel GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost w/ SLI
    Drivers are the latest version
    Windows 10 64bit Updated
Gigabyte Mobo with Intel i7 chip (not overclocked yet.)

running @ 1920 x 1080 Native on desktop and same in DDO
Here is the interesting part, When I am in-game with my settings at full screen (windowed), I can tab to windows it is fine, but as soon as I click exit.
There goes my desktop resolution and it's non-viewable.

Huh, very odd. I'm more of a Mac and Linux guy, so I won't be too much more help with fixing a windows problem, but you can pull some more information out with dxdiag that might be useful for troubleshooting. Good Luck.

I have a similar issue where DDO throws off the brightness levels on exit sometimes. I've found the easiest solution is just to run dccw.exe, a Windows program that allows adjustment of all graphical stuff, because all the levels are actually correct, it's just a question of reminding Windows what they are.

Since it's not quite the same I don't know if it'll work for you but it's very easy so probably worth a shot. Good luck!

Are you running ddo with sli enabled?
Have you tried forcing SLI when running ddo?
If so, try running ddo without SLI and see if it helps.

    I hope this helps

when you say "tried it", which part? Did you get to the RGB balance section and try fiddling with those?

yes I went thru the whole thing. it's not a simple issue of some colors being off.. it looks like it's 8bit with sever color distortion which you can not see anything one the screen because all the fonts are covered icons undistinguishable, and I can only restart from my windows menu out of location memory.

i'll see if I can get a screen shot and attach it to this post.

    (ok,)

    Interesting….

    So not sure why but...

My screen looks messed up, I took a screen shot with Windows Key + Prt Scr, I go to post it.. it's not distorted..

You have the same issue that I had, I never had issues previously until they updated the DirectX drivers and such.

I ran DDO on an Acer All-In-One that has a GeForce GT 630M, no, not proud but work with what one can afford and given at the time and have a laptop now that aint much better, however the base GPU is an Intel 4000 chipset. For some reason after I had to redo my hard drive and reinstall windows and such its never accepted that I can run anything involving DirectX 10 and 11.

When you do the screenshot it wont show anything wrong at all, I know, strange, however you cant see anything due to some glitch.

However, if lucky all you need to do is on your main windows home screen, just right mouse on your background, and if you can make out the popup menu, just pick the 2nd to last option to get into your Display settings. No matter your screen resolution, when windows opens the settings for your Display the drop down box near the bottom of the settings window is for your Display Resolution, all you have to do is change that one setting and it will automatically refresh the screen so you can actually see things properly, just tell it to revert back and it will work.

I have actually given up trying to get the DirectX to work with DDO and just ran it on the base Intel side, but something tells me the 600 series of GeForce have issues with DDO now, which is annoying

    Smile Possible solution,,,

I just bought a new system... Windows 10 with NVIDIA graphics. Was having the same problem. Reinstalled win10, fully updated everything... The problem was still there until i ran the compatibility trouble shooter... I right clicked the DDO shortcut icon and ran the troubleshooter, it set the game compatibility to windows 8 and the problem is gone.... Hope this helps...
