Default When is the DC "set" for Otto's Sphere of Dancing?

I was curious as to "when" the DC is set for a CC spell like Otto's sphere. Is it set at the time the spell is cast, or when the monster encounters the spell?

The sphere spell is an enchantment spell and monsters must make a DC when they encounter the spell. My bard has an enchantment focus and insightful enchantment focus items to boost his DC. Does he need to wear them at the time the spell is cast, at which point the difficulty of the spell is set for the monsters to save against, or does he need to wear them as the monsters encounter the spell and make periodic saves?

The DC is set when you cast the spell.

    Proof:
If you take the archmage tier 5 for critdamage, you'll see that mobs entering AOE effects get the extra damage, even after the effect has ended. This is used with the necromancer Auras, and various DOTs on bosses. You can snapshot your dot for 100% crit damage, or snapshot your aura for 100% crit damage.

Another useful effect is the legendary shroud items. You can cast a glitter dust with your affirmation stick on to get it to proc. You can then cast a mind fog with your conc opp to get the sp proc. Then you can switch back to relevant DC gear so that you can get your procs as well as some decent mainhand items.

Thank you for answering my question and providing examples! This is good because now I can take the time to equip gear that maximizes the DC's on my CC/AOE spells then switch to fighting gear before engaging a swarm of enemies!

    Happy hunting!

What about the healing song of the bard? Does the heal amount change for others if you swap gear?

I believe it follows the same logic as a spell (most things do), but I have not tested it.
