I just purchased an Acer Nitro 5 and downloaded DDO. Now, I'm getting an error message that I need to have DirectX9 or higher.
It already has DirectX12.
It keeps crashing.
What can I do?

Use google and search for DirectX offline installer and it will show you a link to a page at Microsoft. Run the file and it will ask you where to extract it to (so have a folder on desktop ready). Once done go in the folder and run setup.exe and follow the on screen instructions.

I just wrestled with Direct X stuff today on my new laptop.
After loggin in, I was prompted to use Direct X 11. I knew from recent installs to NOT let it try to use that right off the bat. The installer installed Direct X 9 for me, and I knew I needed to use that initially.
If you said "yes" to using direct X 11, try resetting the display:\
- Click the little triangle
- Go to "Options"
- In the "repair" tab, tick the "Reset the game display settings" button.
Other issues I tackled tonight involved crashes when I tried to adjust the full-screen resolution (I resolved the issue somehow. Might have involved enabling DirectX 11 from the in-game options menu); I was able to get my nice big toolbars again by downgrading to a resolution somewhere around 1300 X 800
Hope this helps. If you continue to have issues, remember to include as much detail as you can. Screenshots are worth 1000 words as well.
That's not lag, it's just DDO trying to become turn-based again.

Just upgraded to Windows 10.1
Apparently, Win 10 comes with Direct X 12
So after loading the DDO client, after maybe 2-3 minutes crashes Client with a Direct X 9.1c error (needed)
Then reload DDO client and is stable till turn off the computer
So besides the obvious, how to fix? It seems to accept/reset the Direct X on the second Client load
So that is my real question how that works...
W10 doesn't have any of the legacy files associated with DirectX 9 and have to be installed. See my post from earlier.

Well Win 10 aborts the install with error
Can only install on Win 2000 and below platforms
So square one...

https://download.microsoft.com/downl...010_redist.exe
That doesn't work for you?
OK so ignore DX9 altogether
Just go to game options and select DX11 to fix
100% stable now (with Win 10)
My solution is to run on Full Screen (Windowed mode). This always fixes that problem.
