On the bright side, now that the sky is falling, there is no need to implement flight as requested in the other thread.

See? Plenty things the same devs that are spending their time in a feature (if everybody can have a mount, i would say it makes sense removing the wilderness teleports, right?) Or are they really spending their time for 3 wilderness areas? Or maybe they wanna release mounts... All p2p, each one sold individually as another "hope to bring life to ddo" (dumbine's wallet, maybe)

Excuse me I allready told this. Developers keep telling the bug fixes and mounts has nothing to do in common for spending resources or time. These are different areas that are getting handled by different departments as it is stated.

Why would some players be dumb wallet if they wish to see something new once in a while and enjoy it ? There are alot of things such as adventure packs, expansions, goes as a list.

No one ever told mounts will be p2w only. (Besides there is no pvp out of stormreach gates either to win) What I guess is, basic mounts will be similar to hires. Flashy cosmetic ones most probably be shopped only mounts. Similar to cosmetic outfits. I would also like to hear the lastest news about the subject in the future by developers themselves.

Honestly, having gotten to mess around with them internally for a few months now, they do really just kind of... fit within DDO. It feels pretty natural. I hope you folks enjoy them, or at the very least get the chance to test them out during our next Public Preview.

Thanks for sparing time and showing developers care for player's opinions. My appreciations for the hard work.

I welcome a mount for traveling in the wilderness areas like Storm Horns, Ravenloft, and others like it. I think it will add to the feeling of adventuring since a horse would be a common sight in zones like that.

I would prefer to NOT see them in the Marketplace, Sharn city, or other smaller public areas. It would take away from the immersion of their theme, cause extra crowding, and immature people would try to block quest NPCs. Some people get their jollies by grief-ing others.

Is it just going to be the light brown horse? Or will there be other color choices? I'd love a white, black, or dark chocolate color. OHHHH a paint!!!! I'd pay extra for a paint (white/brown splotches combo).

It's easy enough to use keys to click through another player to use/activate, I seriously doubt they're making the horses solid enough to block targeting, and the value for me decreases if I can't use it to get around this or that zone because someone else has a roleplay problem with it. Better if they just let us turn off other people's horse graphic displays in our options if it matters that much to you.

As for color I imagine there will be more options added over time, like with cosmetics and pets.

    Lotro already has mounts, no?

so its basicly just a copy&paste plus some polishing

do i think we need mounts? no. if worse comes to worst we will see even larger outdoor areas where you basicly need mounts unless you want to run half an hour to a quest

will i enjoy them? probably. riding on a raptor is sweeeet. though a huge scropion would be cool as well

    Yes. unequine-vocally.

This is one of the most requested, most D&D things since the beginning of DDO.

When DDO2.0 came out - two things stood out (that I remember people saying) (ok three no four)
    • graphics
    • guilds
    • tails
    • cloaks
    • mounts

all these things SSG makes bank from; that bank keeps new stuff coming in; pays for more wonderful things; keeps the game alive.

This seems like such a strange addition.
I'm assuming they will grant a movement speed increase as they're mounts.
So if they can be used in dungeons that will make them be completed even faster and the zerg is already taking a lot away from the gameplay. Unless everyone gets a free mount that just makes it even harder for the new players to keep up with veterans when in a group together.
If they can't be used in dungeons then I don't really see the point either. The outside world is so small and has so many portals that you don't really need the extra movement speed.
The only place I can see it be useful is for the huge adventure areas like King's Forest and Storm Horns.

So my guess is that their main use will be simply cosmetic which is fine I guess. It's a good stream of revenue if you can create a lot of skins for them, I just find it a very unnecessary addition.
Even if it's just the animator spending his time on it (I doubt he coded everything as well, though), then I'd rather have seen his time being spent on creating new and improved animations for existing stuff.

    No.
Never understood why we have these huge, beautiful, handcrafted wilderness areas. That serve no purpose except super boring slayers xp once per epic life for those insane enough to endure it.

There is no pvp, no world bosses, no resource collection, nothing to do really.

Maybe fix all the cosmetic issues like clipping or texturing issues for basically every new armour, maybe new casting or swinging animation, new monster death animation, new spell, another variation of wings, colour palettes for amours and cloaks, I don't know.

Anything really, what you gonna do use the horsey for ? Run to Unquiet Graves or Chains once per life ?

You get one forum account per DDO account, not per character.

Honestly if you go back over the history of the requests for mounts, it might not be as large of a group as you think. Stuff like this usually has a loud vocal minority, making it seem like more folks are interested than what really are.

Also, look at the poll question. It's not "Do you want mounts"? It's "Are they worth dev time"?
My take on "the grind": https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...=1#post6220972

Ordinary humans have inhibitions that serve as a buffer against what we know is bad behavior.
However, some people, by blaming others for their own bad behavior, develop a thought pattern that allows them to override self-control in order to achieve a selfish end.
    - My opinion on exploiters and cheaters blaming SSG for unfair punishment.

Until mounts cause weird issues in the game which then requires a third "Hey Lynnabel" thread with 25 pages of things to fix.

Edit: I do appreciate your willingness to engage the community here, so while I say the above, it is not with any hard feelings toward you personally in any way.

It's another example of "dumbing down" DDO.

It's nothing more than a cash cow, and has ZERO place in the game.

This game has turned into a carnival.

I didn't read all the answers but I saw lot of people complaining about inventory management. When I played pen and paper rpg a horse was always useful to carry my weapons, bags, ropes. So I don't know why do you think a mount must not be the solution for inventory issues? Okay I understand this is a fantasy game so carrying 20 full plates and great swords in my pocket is totaly fine but putting a half ton weight horse to my other pocket makes me uncentered so not worth it. But still, there are so many possibilities other than just the extra movement speed and cosmetic purposes. In other games I've played, mounts gives us extra power like dps or defense, hp, dc, etc. I wonder how many people was against sentient weapons because they looked to it as an unnecessary thing and now they use it because they are really useful and fun.
Anyway, I'm just one of many. I voted yes, but actualy I don't really mind if devs cancel this project because of the predominance of negativity.

Copy pasting code from one game to another game? Yeah. That will end well.

When you enter the dungeon your mounts cant fit into.
Players: Meh, just leave those mounts outside.
DM: You exit the dungeon to find trolls have killed and partially consumed the mounts you left outside...

This is kind of cool like cloaks, but I think the community is getting short changed in the quality of life department. The last content patch still has a lot of bugs that make several quests difficult to complete. In addition it feels like the KoTC revamp keeps getting deprioritized. The other divines received their revamps in 2017.
