Default Does Henshin Mystic Beat Fist Monk With The New ED Changes?

    No, it can't.

Hi, I'm Strimtom. You may have heard from me from such builds as Strimtom's Acid Arrow and Awful Rogue Thing, and today I want to tell you about henshin Mystic.

    Wow, what a rivetting video.

    TL;DW
    • Two Handed Fighting LOL

But how do we fix this? I have some suggestions:
    • Remove -to hit from power attacks
    • While using the two handed fighting combat style your doublestrike instead becomes double damage, doubling the damage of your hit. Change doublestrike into double damage with two handed weapons so that it amplifies big swings and works with glancing blows (glancing blows can't doublestrike)
    • Double Damage applies to cleaves

Bam, now instead of screen covering damage numbers coming up from a zillion attacks, instead it's just a few big as heck attacks. And it all scales! Whooo!

    For the build:

    Henshin Mystic Falconer
    Monk 20
    Lawful Good Aasimar

So thank you for laying out a build and video to keep the flame alive! I personally thank you for all the people you must have brought in and kept, and for your entertaining videos!

    Some ideas:

FotW is a damage ED where damage depends on your character's synergy with adrenaline. This means that that number of attacks you make to recharge adrenaline is important. By having 100% doublestrike recharge twice as many adrenaline uses due to attacking twice instead of hitting twice as hard under your proposal means you end up with about the same amount of total adrenaline attack damage since you are using it twice as often for half as much.

However, since adrenaline also applies helpless in melee for six seconds with two ranks in overwhelming force, having 100% doublestrike attack twice as often means the double recharge of adrenaline will allow you to apply that helpless twice as often, on top of twice as many other on-hit effects, such as endless night rubies in that staff of shadows you talked about.

So your proposal to convert doublestrike to double damage would actually greatly nerf FoTW THF since it would cut recharge of adrenaline in half cutting helpless application in half, as well as the application of procs.

Understanding this means if you want a good THF FoTW build you want the reverse of what you proposed and to make a character with more attacks/second to rapidly recharge adrenaline to apply a ton of helpless, with good proc damage on those lots of attacks, and you want a damage build that can take advantage of the helpless and with a high helpless damage.

For that, consider a pure dps class like 20 rogue, which due to being able to tumble to attack an additional target (so 2 main target + 2 secondary target attacks per animation + glancing blows). This recharges FoTW adrenaline up to twice as fast as your monk so you also get more helpless application, has more proc damage due to sneak attack dice, and due to having No Mercy in the acrobat tree stack with No Mercy in the falconry tree has better helpless damage.

Henshin Mystic might be more at home in GMoF as a mystical and instakill build with void strike, mass frog, QP, and EIN.

Also, a character being built to melee in reaper 10 should have enough enough hp from reaper trees to consider dropping two toughness feats for precision and great cleave. Monk does have it's pros though. As you mentioned, your character does have 100 all saves and good AoE healing. It would have a fair chunk of instant kills with frog and EIN and QP working. However, tanky builds with good AoE healing and instant kills tend to not deal very much damage, such as a plate + shield necro cleric.

What's the dps of an instakill?
    6 sec?

Anyways that's more a wraps style play
I ran henshin through release of rl
When it was #7 but nobody knew it...
    Except me, I guess

    Before bird man
    Never really returned it...
Oh ya, they nerf killed it

    But to fix it,
    Return mp to staff cores
    And for gods sake,
    Create a fighting stick

What was the difficulty of the quests shown in the video? I'm assuming R6?

Add the Melee power back to the Henshin staff Cores when you are holding a staff add some stacking Melee power, Melee alacrity and double strike into the quarter staff training enhancement on each tier and there you go also do the same thing in ninja spy tree but for short swords.

    Thumbs up

Hey Strimtom, Magistros here, huge fan,

I am playing your build and I have to tell you that it is awesome and I totally enjoy it.

It is my first monk life and generally I do not have many PLs (around 15 heroic, 12 Epic and 2 Iconic). Also, I dont have Aasimar so I played with Half-Orc. Although I have some deviations from your build I m pretty close.

I invested some APs in orc racial tree (around 20 points) for two-handed damage and dmg vs helpless. IIRC 41 points for Hensysn mystic, and the rest on Falconry.

Also, i play with Grandmaster of Flowers ED and EiN has around 110 DC which is great.

Equipment is "almost" complete, i only miss Legendary Moonbeam and some decent boots.

So how would this build work with strikethrough now? Should be pretty viable

Edit: Actually i tried it, lvl26 now and strikethrough is crazy on staff monk. Loving it

It's really fun. It isn't as strong as a bunch of other toons but it's zoomy and you never die.

Does monks receive ghost touch as a passive effect somewhere?
Wouldnt it be better to go grandmaster if you focus on wisdom , for Ein and also take frog at 28?

I am on a life now with something very similar but human and with Spring Attack which is fun - very crouching tiger.

Spring Attack + Elemental Bloom is crazy good from level 7 to about 12. Especially in corridors
