Default MacOS client changes and Linux

With the MacOS client being replaced with a wine client solution, could we please get a similar solution for Linux gamers, at least on specific, popular distros like Ubuntu or Linux Mint? Wine is already there, we know it can be done as plenty of community members have done it themselves, please just give us a supported Linux solution already.

That would be nice. Been playing on linux back and forth for some time now. Would be nice if they officially supported it.

    Default Lutris

Most distros have lutris in their repos, just install and create an account.

But that does not make it officially supported. To my undestanding only the launcher really needs windows as the game runs fine with opengl instead of directx. I play the game from steam on linux. works fine. Guess lutris can do it too, but this does not mean SSG officially support Linux.

Nevertheless thanks for pointing out another work around. I had forgotten about lutris.

Is the DDO Store working in Linux? On my limited testing so far, while the game is fine the Store is not loading.

It sort of works through steam. You have to enable legacy client so it will open in a browser. Also sometimes it will not work. then you have to exit the game and delete cookies and browser data in steam. Then it will work again.

Cool. When I can persuade Steam to install I'll give it another shot.

    Thanks

    You're most welcome

I have updated the guide from mmlddo to include this.

Do you have problems installing steam on Linux? If so i can probably help.

Thanks for the offer. Should be OK, just finished threatening the Laptop with Win10 if it doesn't cooperate, and suddenly it's behaving itself

Honestly, I wouldn't bother if I was you. Proton from steam offers much better performance than the wine version SSG used.
