Automatic Search with Mind Like Iron broken?

Mind Like Iron, the Inquisitive enhancement that should automatically search out nearby things with a -4 penalty, appears to be broken. I can have a search double digits higher than necessary to detect a trap and it will not pop out automatically.

For example, I was just in Death House on Heroic Normal on Hardcore. I have a Search of 43 and none of the traps in the basement will automatically search out. If I remove items and get my Search down to 29, if I manually search they will still pop out. So I should have at least +14 over what is needed to find the traps, but none of them will pop automatically. Secret doors seem to search automatically but traps are very erratic.

It searches using your Spot score at -4. What is your Spot?

It probably works like watchful eye where you also need the spot skill high enough to see it.

It searches using your Spot score at -4. What is your Spot?

Ugh yeah my Spot is pretty terrible. I just did some testing and found that if I got my Spot up to 17 things would start popping out. I guess I need to rework my build to get some ranks of Spot in there.

It doesnt say anything in tool tip about it and it autofinds doors just fine

I believe it is broken as I have tried using Mind Like Iron and the Elf racial auto search ability Nothing is Hidden. My search is 52 and my Spot is 19. I tested it in Kobold Ringleader, Mind Like Iron did not trigger on any of the traps on Normal. After I switched to Nothing is Hidden in the racial tree it worked fine, the boxes show up right away.

The Inquisitive core ability Hit the Streets also doesn't appear to provide the listed bonuses for Half-Elves.
