    Yes keep it.

Also, yes it is a feature that brings the community together.
Much commenting in our guild about various deaths, along with deep sympathy when one of our own falls.
Even rejoicing when the toon is rerolled.

absolutely keep it as-is... the ever-present reminder of the stakes is pretty fun

Also, i really hope there'll be a report of the leading causes of character death once the event wraps up
I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was, now what's it is weird and scary to me.

But maybe with the option to turn them off if another round of HCPD happens in the future, even if the option only presents itself while in quests. I nearly had a death when a whole string of death happened at once (party wipe, I'm guessing), and the ensuing visual distraction caused me to mistime a trap. Granted, much of that is on my own head - as I have a visual issue that makes rapidly moving text and objects on the peripheral really hard to ignore - but still was really irked when it happened. Maybe I just have to do my usual and find a way to work around it.

But, all in all - this is another aspect of the temp-server I misjudged. While I may find the spam occasionally annoying, seeing the general populace's reaction to it has been generally positive. Every so often, a death will happen and Gen Chat will have some people saying "Oh man, that person was on the Leaderboard..." or "At Level 10, that's gotta hurt. RIP," - and that's kinda fun.

Is it going to be possible, when the event ends, to get out of Purgatory to get things from bank to transfer with us?

Such a DDO move - a good idea turned bad by being too money-grabby which leads to less money being grabbed. Although I'm surprised you didn't have to buy a 100$ expansion in order to play for those few months.

These dead characters will miraculously find their way out of the Land of Lost Souls to reenter the world of the living and resume play like a normal character.” - from the official announcement

I am assuming that this means that a dead character will not revive to grab stuff out of the account bank, but will personal bank items transfer?

Also that a living character can simply grab the account bank stash and then transfer.

    Is that about right?

When event is over can you teleport character over to original server with all equipment on them?

I have two suggestions to maybe improve this a little.

First, could you maybe bump the min level for notifications up to 4 or 5. That'd cut down on the spamminess a little bit but still provide announcements for anyone that essentially "made it out of Korthos".

Second, it would be extremely awesome if you have the death announcement include what killed the person and what mission/zone they died in. I suspect there were be large amounts of hilarity in some of those details.

saw the announcement last night where the level 8 that was leading the Reaper list died. That had to sting.

Dunno about 10, but 5 would be a good threshold to consider.

edit: High mortality rate is keeping the AH flowing with gear.

This is all DDO has been about for years now. I remember when it used to be a challenge to play the game and fun. Now if you spend money hand over fist you can have a triple completionist in a matter of weeks. And with how easy they have made the gameplay you don't even need to engage your brain to complete any of the quests anymore.

The new change to Reaper mode proves my point. You can now be 2 levels over the quest level to get 100% RXP.

Yes please, we really want this Er, the what killed them and where notices. I'm good with the notifications where they are... or maybe 3 or 4 but no higher.

This is really off-topic for this thread, but...

We had played this game for years, from before Korthos - my husband bought the original game pack in the store and he and my son played. I started a bit later, but I know I have characters from 2011. And we loved it. DDO has the best system of any MMO I've ever seen. We love combat, we love movement. Yeah, the graphics are dated, but they're still nice. I'd really like more character graphics/clothing, and they seem to be working on that with Ravenloft and Sharn.

And it was hard. My highest level character ever was a 16. And then they made some changes we didn't like and we went and did other things. Had some fun with Vermintide (both), enjoyed Left for Dead, etc. Spent our money elsewhere. But when we played, we'd always spent money on the game - bought the pack, bought subs, occasionally got something from the store, or helped a friend purchase an area so they could play with us.

Recently an announcement caught our attention and we came back. And we're loving it again. Is it easier? Yup sure is. I've now TRd twice and am on my third. But not in weeks. It's taken several months. Sure you could do weeks if you play the game like a teenagers, all the time. We don't have that option anymore. But I love being able to try many different characters. There are so many options. I'm kinda a roleplayer (played paper and pencil D&D first) and I find all kinds of good new things now. Am playing a Pale Master, playing around with Shadar-Kai, several others I want to try. And we love Sharn and Ravenloft. Each TR we're excited to get high enough to play those, and some of the other quests we hadn't really done. Oh and reaper mode is a blast. We play on reaper I and II - the occasional III and party wipe. Which is fun for me.

And we spend the same amount of money on it we always did, subs, packs if we want them early and the occasional something from the store. This is a business and they *have* to make money to keep having new things/events/keep the servers up etc. The way DDO does it doesn't feel very 'play to win' to me. What is it you want them to do?

As for hardcore - yes we're loving it and yes it would be nice if the free-to-play folks had something. But I don't see that the VIPs get that much for their money. Some DDO points. The ability to buy characters/areas that all disappear of you drop a subscription. Mostly the 6 of us subscribe to support the game (well a couple do because the rest of us do - lol). I'm willing to spend my entertainment dollars this way rather than on something else. Everyone chooses something.

And the other thing is Korthos is *packed* (I didn't know this many people still played DDO.) There's more than one instance for the first time in I don't know how long. I'm not sure one server would handle everyone. We should ask them for another server for free-to-play folks. Maybe with a small (but not excessive) charge for the event?

I dunno - I hate them being left out. Maybe they'd be more inclined to sub if they could see how much fun it can be? So hopefully there is a solution.

Sorry for the rant. /From the Guild BetterOffDead

What will happen to items in the shared bank at the end of the event?

Will they still be there for the next Hardcore event, or will it be a completely new server?

    Agreed^^.

One question. I think this must be a PD thing or something. Lot of folks reply to a death announcement with just "F". I hope the meaning of that isn't sitting next to me chewing my ankle, but what's that stand for?

Just checking in, players know the folks at SSG like to eat and have a roof over their head, right?

They had to bring another server on line, create & run a unique version of the game, etc...
I am happy that VIPs get in for free!

Maybe to address your larger point, they could have offered "ticket" purchased with DDO points...
    Maybe next time...
