Hey guys!
Since yesterday I've been unable to load in past the second launcher screen. The green font says Authenticating servers, then crashes. Please help!

Honestly, I'm just about to ready to demand a refund on what's left of my season pass & my remaining VIP time as well. I'm getting the sneaking suspicion that SSG is intentionally trying to kill DDO, and I'm not giving them another cent until they can actually prove otherwise.
In other words, it's probably high time to completely cash out of this game and wipe it from my hard drive. Baldur's Gate 3 is coming out, and rumor has it that it could be developed into an MMORPG soon after. If SSG keep up with the clown and crackhead show they've been performing recently, they'll lose everybody when that happens.
Baldur's Gate 3.... bah that's a long long wait.... TABLETOP PnP prequel is only due out next month...
I'll take my patience and roll with the fix/downtime for a couple more days... Being on since beta come to expect a little downtime, but 3-4 days down in March and 3-4 days now... = 97.8% uptime.... is that good? bad? or par for the course?
I would have expected this downtime on the Sharn update, but not this update....
Patiently waiting....

Yeah, I wondered if those of you who follow this issue closely, like me, have any insight.
The release notes for (what we hope is this morning's) patch reads:
"Corrected an issue that prevented users of the legacy Mac client from launching the game. Note: The current Mac client can be downloaded here."
And it contains a link that automatically yeets the file "ddolive.dmg" into your download folder. But there's no read me/supporting material as far as I can tell.
SO which is true?
A) The version of the Mac client that most of us downloaded from SSG's own site, or got via Steam, is "the legacy client." It will go back to working after the next patch. But if you use the newer file linked in the release notes, you install a fresh version that will work even without the patch?
B) The file linked in the release note is that Wine version that's been floating around, but always with the caveat that it was not official/was some sort of beta.
It would be important to know!
I spent hours during the last lockout two weeks ago downloading and installing the Wine tool and trying to get it to work. It launched the game, but in a version that was barely playable.
So then I spent more hours getting rid of that and starting with a fresh install from Steam. That only worked after the last hot fix.
If A is true, that means I should install the file linked in the release notes---it's just a newer version of what I have used for two years.
If B is true---I guess I will have to suck it up and try to get Wine to work.....but I'm super wary of investing yet more hours in something that doesn't work on its own but needs a lot of technical tuning (and without any official support or documentation).
Edit: if any of you have been brave enough to use that link in the release notes, what did you discover?
As further background, using either the Steam download OR the beta Wine client last time was an hours long process. Both seem to entirely reinstall the game and take a minimum of 3 hours of running.....which makes it a frustrating thing to test.

as far as i can tell, the "hotfix" seems to have fixed things that most players care about and left the Mac client standing on coals. the Mac client now crashes at the character selection screen and not after hitting Play.
While the legacy Mac client continues to work (after today's patch), we are moving away from that client to the WINE client that debuted earlier this year. So, make sure to download it here if you ever run into any issues with the legacy client: http://live.ddo.com/sites/clientdl/ddo/ddolive.dmg
We don't have a firm cutoff date (yet), but people who play on Mac should consider upgrading to the newer client regardless if they can.
Have fun, and don't forget to gather for buffs!

as my legacy client is still crashing, albeit at character selection now, i'm hoping this is a reworked version of the previous Beta-Wine client (way too difficult to locate). EDIT: installation of the new client from the link above just crashed as i was typing this.
you should consider making an official thread regarding this and the download link. i've started a thread that you can feel free to bump:https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...43#post6239143
UPDATE: managed to finish the install, and now it's back to opening the Resources folder because it can't find the client.

for Mac users that are still unable to use current versions of the legacy or WINE clients, try restoring the app from your Time Machine backup. for reasons i'd love to hear from SSG regarding, restoring my Aug 3rd app backup worked. maybe SSG should just recommend Mac users do this every Tuesday xD
also, i'd be happy to accept employment from SSG just so i can make sure posts regarding these issues aren't buried deep within the forums, and so that they can also be found on Discord xD
here's hoping that guy in the basement ODing on energy drinks while trying to compile the WINE client in a VM gets a raise.
