    Default Best Inquisitive split?

I've made a 12/7/1 Ranger/Bard/Barbarian inquisitive and it is really good. I got 32 doubleshot from enhancements (heroic).

But i am wondering what the highest dps build is?

I am leaning towards a pure ranger. +20 doubleshot +20 ranged power and a couple of clickies for extra damage. more doubleshot with killer and 5 fve from feats.

A pure fighter also might be good. +21 doubleshot +40 ranged power and no sniper shot. +14 damage.

I am reading about a ranger rouge artificer split is also good.

The highest pure DPS build while using No Holds Barred right now isn't even using dual XBows, but a Rogue 18 using NHB but the 18th Mechanic core for +2 crit mult on GXBs.

I always go Arti 2. That extra item slot does work. The Halloween runearm especially, with permanent ghost touch so I can change weapons without fearing a sneak attack from a random Reaper, but that's obviously not the top DPS option.

I think the sneak die from a deep Rogue split is probably hard to overcome on a build with such a high potential ROF as Inqui, especially with all the fort bypass it can get

That being said, that's a pure DPS build (well and trapping of course) because you'll have no utility, no CC, no healing, no buffing, etc. And you'll need to figure out how to proc sneaks if you're soloing.

I think the "best" split in terms of combining high DPS with other useful properties is some Ranger/Arti/XX split. That gives you a more diverse portfolio with Doubleshot, sneak, runearms, lots of autogrant feats so you can take things like Dodge/Mobi, some self heals and buffs, etc. XX can be Rogue for Evasion (if you're <9 Rgr) and more sneak, Fighter for more feats and Kensei stuff, Barb for runspeed and temp HP, etc.

In no particular order. Just a few I've tried.

    16 arti 2 barb 2 ftr
    16 rog 2 barb 2 ftr
    10 ftr 6 rog 2 arti
    10 rog 6 ftr 2 arti
    16 rog 4 arti
    16 ftr 2 arti 2 barb

Going to be doing some ranger lives next iconic, so will mix it up more then.

As far as class splits with a repeater/Gxbow build, I've probably done another 30-40 combinations including high levels in pally, sorc, wizard, bard, ect….. But not as many since inquisitive came out.

My current is a 16Arti/2Ftr/2Barb (bladeforge). It is not the highest/max dps available. It is however been working just as I expected.

What's the 2 levels of fighter for? Just the extra feats? It wouldn't seem this build is feat starved with all the extra arti feats. Haste Boost?

If I had to guess, easy access to extra action boosts, but the feats are still welcome, though they'll probably be defensive feats at that point.
You can net IPS a few levels earlier on some builds if you take those Fighter levels at the proper time, so there's that going for you too.

Fighter feats can get you more rp as well haven’t run the numbers to see if two is worth it. But I’ve been running 14ftr/4arti/2rog the past couple of lives and it’s pretty ridiculous the rp and damage I’m getting. Nobody else thinks it’s good cuz I give up too much SA. But if you actually do math it’s coming out on top. But hey, math. Blargh.

I did about 32 racial lives as inquisitor builds, have dabbled in many different splits and for me, 6 Ranger for sniper shot just seems ridiculously OP especially if you solo a lot. Its on a 6 second cooldown, can effect groups of mobs via improved precise shot and provides 4 seconds of sneak attack vulnerability. Whats not to love about that?

Cleric 11, Artificer 2, whatever else 7 (might even be Clr 11/Arti 2/Clr7).

Because that gives you a Cleric past life without making you play as a "real" Cleric.

    9 Wiz 2 Rogue 9 XXX?

Gives you Evasion+Trapping with INT for everything, PM toolkit with nearly maxed caster levels for heals, the L9 die step for EK, and two free metas for Quicken/Extend.

It'll award you an XXX PL for all release classes. For post-release classes...just go 10 XXX 8 Wiz, you only lose the die step for EK, or use a dedicated build for Arti or FvS

Agreed, Sniper is the linchpin of my Inqui solo build. I alternate between that and Shoot First, they're OHKs on EH and under. And it works even better with Hunt's End...its +3[W], guaranteed crit threat, +2 crit mult, +400% damage, and it hits between 2 and 4 times to everything in a line And you can use it every 24 seconds

Honestly I'm surprised 9 Rgr isnt seen more often as the core of any Inqui build. Its got a great set of skills to complement Inqui....a bit of self-healing, Sniper Shot, DWS gives you some great things like 20% Doubleshot with your 27 flex AP, autogrant ranged feats, Evasion.

Why would a ranged based character want a cleric past life?

Acid-based Wiz Inqui? Warlock ES Inqui?

    Or, of course, just Completionist

    .
I'll try that soon enough as I am looking for another build for inquisitive. The Ranger cure spells are also appealing for now I have none.

Imho ranger splits work best for new(er) characters without (high) tomes.
Free IPS without dex investment, free ranged feats, evasion, resists, heals, Rams, Wild Instinct, FoM. Great secondary tree to invest AP. Obviously Sniper Shot.

Once you get a big dex tome and ideally a FoM flask, Rogue splits are more DPS.

Or go half-way and take 6 Ranger for Sniper Shot because it's just awesome.

I believe everyone's best changes up to fun they achieve at their gaming sessions. Some players wish to go burst some sustained. Some wish to mash a thousand buttons, some wish to be more tankier when the lag hits etc...

About builds, including the Inquisitve centered one.

I allmost allways go for Human. I was a shield adept Stalward with agressive shield tactics; throwing aswell. Rise of the crossbows made me swap to Crossbows, aoe melee being side weapon for clearing whats left out from ranged assault. Anyhow Inquisitve style needs much less of melee support compared to Greatcrossbow. ( I never enjoyed repeaters )

[ Some other combos Mechassin/Palemaster, Mechassin/Ranger. Weird builds even as Rogue/Radiant/Palemaster. There was this Rogue/Barb/Fighter Vistani build I enjoyed once. TWF dagger+ Throwing. (Vistani has been my pocket tree vs easy Negative levels). They keep the volume about the same for Inquisitve aswell ]

In time Rogue/Fighter turned out my go to build for several reasons such as changing bits of the build through skills and feats. Breaks boredom.

    Lately with Inquisitive I enjoy,

    Human Rogue/Fighter

    Inquisitive/Kensei/Mechanic for obvious reasons.

Really like this, and have a Heroic Completionist (at least will be once I finish this Alchemist life, maybe a week away now) that has 3 x paladin and 3 x ranger with one of everything else, and was looking to try an Inquisitor for running out his ETR's.

He has no racial bonus enhancement points at this time though, so I'm stuck with the original 80x (whether I address that after his ETR's remains to be seen, if it's still fun I may, if not, meh).

He is packing a +8 supreme, has heaps of old greensteel - displace clickies, hp, sp items, concordant opposition items, torc, blah blah - all the old stuff and a fair selection of the new stuff - and i have a few lvl 30's of various classess hanging around for farming gear - so that's not an issue.

So my question is how trim the 14 extra points off this without destroying the build - or look for a similar alternative Inqui that can do reasonable heals, good dps, traps and is fun to play (I solo everything, have done for years now, and don't do the reaper thing at this point - maybe in the future, we'll see).

    Any help appreciated,

Take everything out of the Halfling tree and that will leave you with 4 points to spend which I would put in DWS and pick some extra goodies or you could use them to get the Ranged Power from Harper. I wouldn't bother with the healing dragonmark either since you will have access to Heal scrolls around level 11 or so.

Further to my post above, and after laying my hands on an up to date planner, the following

After having lived in the heroic levels for a very long time, and taking a big break from the game not long after the level cap cracked 24, you can imagine I'd want to spend as little time as possible in 1-20, and as much as possible in 20-30, getting ETR's, filling out Destiny spheres, and collecting the new loot (I'm looking at you Legendary Sharn and Ravenloft...)

I haven't filled out gear and filigree slotting on this, as for everyone that varies on what you have, how lucky or dedicated you are, and whether you have a high level cannith crafter (I'm fortunate in having raised mine recently to be able to do my 20-30 gear, and have mega tonnes of collectables after playing for a long, long time, heheh)

So I have an alternative to the halfling build suggested above, that is basically the same, with some tweaks, starts at level 15, and doesn't require a bucket load of racial past lives (the only grind heavy part in this is the heroic completionist feat, and that can easily be subbed out for whatever.

An Aasimar Scourge - with start stats here:

    · · ·Start Tome Final
    Str:· · ·8· · 8 · ·20 · ·
    Dex:· 14· · 8 · ·26
    Con:· 17· · 8 · ·30
    Int:· · 18· · 8 · ·40
    Wis:· 10· · 8 · ·22
    Cha:· ·8· · 8 · ·20

With Aasimar bond engaged we have a start con of 18, so very similar to the halfing start though with higher strength, carrying capacity, and wisdom.

The lack of need for the Halfling Dragonmark gives an extra feat (I took Precision), and having an upgraded Quiver of Alacrity and many speed items, opted out on Blinding Speed, taking Insightful Reflexes instead - I do like my trapping, and don't like failing reflex saves - with improved evasion it's a godsend when soloing - I also gain an extra favoured enemy with this setup (Aasimar giving me free undead of course), and have elected for plants - there seem to be a lot from 20-30

As far as enhancements go i found the above setup to be solid, but have twiddled it for 2 x lay on hands, some extra healing amp, and a little more damage boost, whilst staying within the 80ap constraint. Though this character could live on pots and heals scrolls fairly well, I do prefer a panic heal option in combat - so the lay on hands for me

I won't flesh out the fate twists and running destiny, as that's really up to what you've done, what you have, and what you like.

Skills ended up a little different as I didn't want to burn a +1 LR just to start on rogue and maximise it, when i ended up with max bluff, diplo, search, spot, disable, umd, swim (yeh, I still do the crucible,, heheh), balance, hide, move silent, open lock, with high values in a sprinkle of flavour stuff, no real downside there in my opinion.

Anywase, I'll roll this guy out as soon as I finish that Alchemist life (went Vistani trapping thrower for fun, check out the U45 Vistani Alchemist thread - it's played well for me)

Thanks again to Majorhavoc for his original posted build for me to framework my setup on, sing out anyone that see's an issue.

Have a good one all, Coit out
