not sure ow its going to work on live server but it takes nothing to lvl up using them, if you have the cash to spend on shards. not sure how fair that will be

you really ought to read his account before you say that, here I will go find a link for you:

You know what? If someone wants to drop $400 to be king of the hardcore server for 12 weeks....let them. At the end of the event everything gets wiped, and they have nothing to show for it. Everyone will have forgotten all about it and moved on to the new patch.
If that means the devs have to flirt with P2W stuff on the Live servers less often to turn a profit, then that's a net positive for the game.
Call it the Sea World server because you're keeping the whales in captivity
If you have a Season Pass it's a somewhat different picture, though, because you get a gold roll every day.
IIRC the leaderboards were for FAVOR and REAPER XP, though, not regular xp, and you don't get either of those from die rolls.

The Season Pass folks (like me) will be able to stock up on potion stack maybe a week earlier than the typical vip due to more gold rolls plat.
(only to lose thus to a lightning bolt spell crit? so I am not sure big stacks are wise)
(they will still be running thru korthos like everyone else for the favor and they might be passing their xp gems to their haggling safe bank toon)
And they might be able to swag some Bigsby Hands to show off to their party members
The turtiose beats the hare in this race everytime….
There are some really great players out there and this being a convergence of all servers should produce some great friends list and great static groups.
Nothing beats the power of 3 great players and 3 tag a longs stomping a dungeon.
Oh and by the way, I have occasionally run into players who spent store items with no regard for wisdom.
They all have one trait in common - they don't care how often they die.
Its all a rushing zerg towards the final boss of the dungeon.
This is exactly how I feel. Maybe...maybe if there was some actual, tangible reward for being placed on the leader boards I'd have a problem, but that's not the case.
Besides, some of the fun will come from someone complaining on the forums that they dropped $100+ on supreme tomes and the like and then got one shotted from a kobold shaman in WW - b/c they forgot they are a 1st life char and didn't have 30 resists from the ship.
Per Cocomajobo - Ranged has easy access to AOE - apparently 3 feats, BAB 11 and Dex 19 is considered easy access these days. post here

Yeah, if you're chasing the Favor leaderboard, then XP is totally irrelevant. Especially with the over-level restriction now in place, you're going to be blue-barred the whole time just to make sure you clear every single quest on Elite before you get locked out of them.
If you're chasing the RXP board, then arguably XP is still important, because the faster you can level up, the sooner you can get to cap and start farming the really lucrative RXP endgame quests.
