Create a cheap Augment Destroyer that you can buy from general vendor, similar to a Sentience Destroyer. Removes augments from items. So named items can be gobbled up by Sentience items.

Hmmm... at the risk of making a naive suggestion, we already have an augment destroyer - another augment.
So, just create an augment that is on a (very) short timer - new one goes in, old one gets destroyed, .1 second elapses, new one expires and disappears - done.
Mebbe?

This is something we know people would like, but the nature of Augments is a lot more complicated (read: absolutely much, much worse) than Sentient Filigree.
Such an item would be time-consuming to create on our end, and would have a negative impact on game performance when used even if created "properly". We've held off so as to not introduce an item that we know would tank game performance.
We'd like to upgrade the overall Augment system someday to not have these problems, but that pass does not currently have a date.
We don't only build for the builds that exist.
We don't only build for the builds that are good right now.
The fact that some changes are necessary is not diminished by the fact that other necessary changes have not happened yet.

From the outside this would seem to be easy, just go into the jewelers kit code and remove the part that writes the new augment into the players inventory. I'm guessing that has been tried and caused other issues though, so I'm just gonna shut up now ;P
create an Augment that is ML0 and flags the item as sentient food. Is that possible?
Putting in a new augment destroys the old one, so in essence this does the job
Call it a Candy augment

Or, create cheaper J's Toolkits that can only remove lower level augments. Maybe several tiers of them. You can't save your favorites, the really big ones, but you can get rid of that +3 Wisdom drek that's clogging up the works.
(This might even become a good revenue angle)
Good idea but people want the augment destroyers in order to feed named items that already have augments in them to sentient jewels. Not worth the trouble on heroic gear TBH since sentient xp there is garbage.
They could eliminate all the named items that DROP with augments already slotted (GH and 3BC for example) but that would not help food-izing stuff that players have slotted. It would be a good first bridging move.

How bout you guys throw us a darn bone then and lower the price of jewelers toolkits to match sentient toolkits. I cant count how many items I had to vendor that could have been good food, not to mention how its often cheaper to get a new augment then to remove it from an item that I already had it attached to. You cant say that this will affect game balance as sentient jewels are far better than 90% of the augments out there.
No the only reason id like an augment destroyer is to feed items to a sentient weapon. I wouldn't be bothered putting another augment in it.
I have tons of named items with augments, that I don't need anymore.
I would of thought destroying a bunch of gear would improve game performance. Less load time for all that gear etc.
So when I sell gear to a vendor that must really kill game performance. It has to remember the gear encase you want to buy it back.
Dropping items must be another real killer to. I'm going to have to stop looting chests in fear of hurting game performance.
