    Default Iconic Racial lives

So, since we now have an item that lets you get a racial past life different from the race you're actually playing, how about having an item that lets you get a racial past life instead of a class past life when you do an Iconic reincarnation?

To avoid confusion such as "what the heck race are Shadar-kai actually", it could just be a slightly more expensive version of the existing item and let you automatically pick whatever race you want (provided you own it).

Accept they really aren't, Elf would be closer.

Hmmm reading the above, they really should make a great necromancer being dark fey that are in an inbetween state of life and death themselves. Missed opportunity I guess. *shrugs*

Elves in some editions of D&D are actually fey. The term "fair folk" applies to both Elves an Fey interchangeably in a lot of books.

In other news, I love the idea.
I wonder how it would work, since the heart to reincarnate an Iconic is its own separate thing.
Might be a lot of work for little benefit here...

They have a feat that treats them as human for the purposes of certain magical effects and racial restricted items (pretty much a thing of the past). Basically hold person rather than hold monster, human bane versus what?, and manslayer supposedly work on them.

They are NOT considered human as far as getting the free human bonus feat at first level or getting the bonus skill points at first level or on level-ups there after. For most intents and purposes they are NOT human.

On that same wiki page it also says:
    Racial feats
Shadar-kai Do Not receive a bonus feat at level 1 since they are Extraplanar, Outsiders from the Plane of Shadow.
