    Default Bow me

    Hi, folks.
Despite the nerf, I am still enjoying the Inquisitive playstyle and, with rogue levels, it fits it with all the sorcerers and warlocks around.

With two different types of Inq builds at 30 now, I was wondering about the bow. I have Nightshade, Diplomancer, and the RL light xbows. I don't do raids (I spend most of them as a soul stone so I kinda gave up), so I don't get greensteel or raid bows.

Of those three light xbows, I think I get the most mileage out of the RL light xbow in general. Regardless of the bow, mobs seem to be much more resistant to procs at upper-level content. I'm wondering if anyone has switched over to heavy crossbows? Though I haven't done the math, to my eye, it looks like they're putting through more damage. Any thoughts on end-game, non-raid bows? Heavy/Light discussion appreciated. (Oh, and does anyone actually switch in something like a great xbow when doing NHB in a boss fight?)

    Thanks!

Try the Morninglord Heavy Crossbow and fill it with sentient XP this is what I am using until/if I can pull Hallowed Splinters from Project Nemesis. The afore mentioned bow is what I use all the time for pretty much everything since I don't have anything else.

Hi. Now that Peril of the planar eyes is out, could someone share their endgame gear set for inquisitive shooter arti? No Canith crafted pieces please. Thx in advance.

Any decent light crossbows at end game?

Using Legendary Nightshade Shooter now and feel it is a bit underwhelming at Reaper and past level 28 quests.

Most Inquisitives use The Hallowed Splinters (Heavy Crossbow).

If you're stuck with using Light Crossbows (you're a Gnome or something), the Legendary Nightshade Shooter is probably your best overall bet. The rest of the Light Crossbows are much more situational.

A raid Light Crossbow would have been nice from Dryad and the Demigod.

I currently use (though it is far from optimal).

3 piece Wallwatch set (armour, head and gloves).
Collective Sight (INT, insightful INT and Festive INT augment).
    Hallowed Castigators.
Epic Ring of the Stalker (not sure what to replace this with atm).
    Deepsnow Boots.
    Celestial Sapphire Ring.
    Bronze Dragonscale Belt.
    Cloak of Winter.
    Planar Compass.
    Family Recruit Sigil.

The Hallowed Splinters (man I love this thing <3)

I have various swaps in there too for different things like trapping and clickies.

Morninglord and Nightmother's ones come to mind which are very good and easy to get. I used Morninglord until I got Hallowed Splinters.

I'm hoping we get another competitive option for NON raid xbows for those of us who dont raid. Other than the generic backstop options like Keep and Fextal, and the event one, there are a whopping three named light non-raid Epic xbows and zero heavy xbows. Storm doesnt count, that's not a real thing. And none have any cool or creative effects, either - Nightshade is the closest thing with a bit of soft cc, but its only DC70 so its of very limited utility at L29+.

When there are endgame-competitive non-raid weapons like Blackrazor, Tail of the Scorpion, Riftmaker, etc., makes you wish there was some equivalency for other popular weapon types.

    Speaking of DC.

I made a Thunderforged light xbow just to see how it compares but it looks like the "no save" effects doesn't do anything either.

Hey, here's the gear setup I'm using.
Don't think it's an uber setup but I'm happy with it for now.

Goggles: Collective (INT + Insightful INT) + Festive INT slotted
Helm: Final Watcher (Wallwatch Set) + Swap to Tiara of Madness for trapping
Neck: Rosethorn (really enjoying the exhaust proc on here)
Trinket: Slavers Crafted (Sheltering, Armor Pierce, Tendon Slice, Quality INT)
    Cloak: Winter
    Belt: Direbear
Ring 1: Prowess (mmm ranged power) + Swap for Keylock for trapping + Flickering Steel for some raids
    Gloves: Wildwood (Wallwatch)
    Boots: Deepsnow
Ring 2: Celestial Sapphire (CON crafted)
    Bracers: Vinelash Bracers
    Armor: Wildwood (Wallwatch)

    Rune Arm: Necronomicannon
Weapon: Nightshade Shooter (Hallowed Splinters would definitely be an upgrade)

    = 3 Piece Wallwatch
    = 4 Piece Winter
= 2 Piece Spring (not that important)

Getting Enhancement/Insightful/Quality Deception makes for some fantastic bonus to hit + damage (+32/49) on sneak attacks.

Would love to see what others have come up with as well

Spines 4pc with both rare version of RP. Gives a total of 25RP.

    Long Shadow 3pc
    Rare version give:

    +10RP, +1 H&D, +1 Int, +2PRR, +2MRR, +4d6 +1d6 per character epic level in acid damage

Then add one random +5 rare RP into the mix
    Deadly Rain rare 3pc give:

    Summary: +85RP, +5%DS, +1Int, +4 Damage, +3 H&D, +2 CCR&D, +10PRR, +2MRR, 4d6 +1d6 per character epic level in acid damage.

And Epic Purifying Quiver from RL Oath of Vengeance quest nice addition too for blunt damage. 8)

This is an interesting gear set to me. You've managed to fit in a lot of set bonuses. Also, that Action Boost Enhancement on the Legendary Lionheart Ring is so tasty for an inquisitive.
It's rough to miss out on the 7th piece of the Spring set for the +25 ranged power. Ranged power is so crucial on Inquisitive builds as a few difference sources of their damage scale with more.
Ranged power impacts base damage, Law dice (With T5 Jaded that's 12d8 x 150% ranged power), Rune Arm (depending on build) scaling by 200%, and sneak dice (again build specific) scaling 150%.
Especially since Inquisitive only benefit from 1/2 doubleshot. Just my thoughts, I'd be interested to hear how that gearset works for you

    Thx for the reply.
The Legendary Crypt Raider set has +20 Ranged power, so netting a difference of 5 which is somewhat compensated by the +5 hit&damage. The less threat is what makes me go for this set instead of 7th of spring as I don't want agro. Let the fuzzy bear take the blows, I'll just smooth talk my way out it.

That threat decrease is definitely a solid choice.

https://ddo-gear-planner.netlify.app - great utility and online.

Well something gotta give when you do the perfect set up.

    Weapon: The Hallowed Splinters
    Armor: Legendary Wildwood Vest
Belt: Legendary Belt of Sure Strikes
Boots: Legendary Thorn Boots (skip these if you are not rgr/barb/druid)
    Bracers: Wildwood Wrists
Cloak: Charune, Grand Burden of Fury
    Gloves: Legendary Wildwood Gauntlets
    Goggles: Legendary Collective Sight
Helm: Helm of the Final Watcher
    Necklace: Legendary Family Recruit Sigil
    Ring1: Legendary Five Rings
    Ring2: Legendary Lionheart Ring
Trinket: Epic Litany of the Dead
    Quiver: +4 RP

This would be a so called optimal set up for a wisdom based INQ.
It ticks all the boxes for base dmg, seeker, deception, armor pen and main stat but... I see issues with it such as
cloak as minor artifact, THE swap spot for absorbs to me. Also no 20% hp bump items and no quality con (or wis). So a wee bit squishy for my taste, YMMV...

7.8W (1d10+3) +189 base dmg, 280 RP, 86% DS (not counting archer focus or stand and deliver) ~2.4kish hp in reaper.

I don't find threat reduction useful on ranged with the way ranged agro works

In groups it is very good...

I pump out a lot of DPS and draw aggro easy but with threat reduction this happens a lot less to say the least.

Meh I still find myself pealing anything that hasn’t established agro yet like things from like entire rooms that have not been agreed yet when engaging with mobs that are already being tanked

In general I like this setup just got to cap and have been using it. The only tweak I'm making is to swap in the serrated arrowhead and moving the legendary five rings to the ring of prowess spot. As nice as 8 ranged power is I'd rather have crippling. Not sure why but I never see exhaustion proc so I feel like I'm lacking cc more than damage. Is it melee weapon only or just broken? In raids I'll probably swap five rings back to the trinket slot but for now more cc is better since I solo a lot.
