So I WAS playing dungeons and dragons online fine for a day or two after installing it, but then today, the launcher gets to the server selection screen, and then when I hit play, it gives me a message of 'getting in line' and then just crashing to desktop. The task manager after it crashes shows there's still some Akamai thing in the background (two of the same one I think?). When I tried to run all the 3rd party installables in the 3rd party folder in the DDO folder, the directx 9 installer wasn't launching at all. I THEN tried installing directx 9 from:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=8109
There was a website that pointed me towards it as a possible solution for installing directx 9. The installer however failed and told me to check an error log. The error log had several entries that mentioned something about 'Access denied' about several things I think it tried to install.
I remember DDO giving me problems years ago which is why I stopped playing. These problems are cropping up again, is there no hope of DDO getting past dependencies on all these old systems? I can't get the launcher to work. I also tried going to the options menu and selecting the 'repair' tab and checking the box for resetting display, but it didn't fix a thing. I'm currently re-downloading DDO so I can re-install it (via steam), but to be honest I don't have much hope.
It worked fine this morning on my OTHER PC, and I'll try again to see if it still works on that. The last time I played it WAS on my other PC for what it's worth, I don't know if that affects this at all. If I recall correctly, when I tried to switch it on with my main PC (where it's failing to launch, so not the same PC as the one I used this morning) I was confused to find that I had to agree to the Akamai terms and services agreement AGAIN, even though I'd already accepted it before, and then accepted it again on my OTHER PC.
No idea if all this helps, but I thought I'd mention it.
