Default U42 Equipment and Power Creep

    Hi all,

I just tested equip setup for the fvs I'm playing on live.

My stats with actual live equip are:

My stats with new u42-3 equip will be:

I think dps melees will also have a huge boost.

Currently we can shortmen zerg the vast majority of r10 endgame quests (with some exceptions like Toee pt2).
I'm afraid this additional power creep will make the game too easy.

Use RL stats as the hard cap for stuff. We don’t need power creep. Creep appeals to some pkaying, turns iff ithers and a small attrition then appears. New players (if they exist) do not care about it; so you are shrinking a veteran playing base with each new expansion.

Designers for any game face this issue. You have to give folks a reason to play something and at some point that becomes loot. But it could be other things too that are healthier for longevity—badges, leaderboards, cosmetics, hall of hero statue etc.

There will be around a dozen people per server who have (a) character(s) with those stats, the rest will be happy with acquiring just about 1 or two of the new Legendary items.

The question isnt whether or not you're more powerful than you were before. Its whether or not you're more powerful than the current top-tier builds.

FvS wasnt often listed among those, from what I've seen up to now. So if the new expansion is just bumping your build up from Tier 2 to Tier 1, then that's good. Hopefully more builds are tuned to the same standards and the options for powergaming keep growing. If its bumping the current Tier 1 to "Tier 0", though, that's when there's a problem with power creep.

Seeing multiple reports that Sharn on reaper is much harder. Even with the new gear you will likely lose power compared to difficulty(above elite).

Imho, fvs is by far the best caster for endgame reaper. You have a lot of cc and instakills, huge DCs, heals, useful buffs via BoH, great defenses for a caster, debuffs via archon (i.e. ooze, dust). Fvs is awesome.
Second best caster, still imho, is DC specced sorc.

Anyway, any build will benefit from new equip. Bad builds and tier 1 builds.

Regarding difficulty, I'm happy to hear that Sharn is hard. But I hope we can still run old content and have some fun with it

    Thanks for sharing.

I would not mind seeing your build and gear layout that gave the posted Sharn screen shot. I am probably not the only one who would appreciated that.

Heck, I'd like to see the build and gear layout in TODAY's game that gives him that high a Wisdom and that many Spell points.

It is like going to a museum and bragging about how fast you made it through. Or bragging about how fast you finished a good steak.

Prolly just the usual fvs aov dc setup with the new gear. Add in full reaper caster and defense tree.

So the difference between the 2 sets of stats is "only" equipment/gear?

As far as the game being too easy: for a player such as yourself, with gear, past lives, and an unsurmountable amount of playing time, Yes the game might be too easy. But this is a case for maybe a handful of individuals on any 1 server. Not a concern for the masses.

U42 setup will be Flamecleansed set, LGSx3 (Helm, Gloves and Boots - I will use LGSx2 and a reaper stat helm but it seems I'm the only player on Cannith who doesn't have one XD), Sigil of Regalport, Collective sight (Wis, ins Wis), CC trinket (up to you, parrying, ins Con), Legendary Silverthread Belt, SL ring (sheltering, resistance, quality Wis), Celestial Sapphire Ring (Con), Nightmother Sceptre, Alchemical Shield.

Today's setup is Slavers x5, LGS x2, Legendary Drow Sage Cowl, Legendary Scales of Exile, Mysterious Cloak, Legendary Silverthread Belt, Bluescale Guides, Nightmother Sceptre, Alchemical Shield.

I went with BoH capstone and tier 5, and I took Scion of Air. I found my DCs are high enough and I usually group with a necro specced Sorc. Moreover, my guildies have ****** hamp (except the mighty Cap )
With U42 all melees will have some hamp, so I would probably go for AoV capstone. Maybe
My enhancements actually are BoH 41, AoV 23, Falcon 12 (+5% hp, hamp, +1 Wis, sprint boost), rest Aasimar.

Correct. Build, stats, enhancements, feats, reaper points are the same.

Well, that can be true, but still I really love this game! I started playing after MoTU, I play 2 hours per day and I still continue to learn and improve. I just want to have fun. When reaper came out, I was so excited: we had to play as a team, we had to develop some group tactics. Now, with all the reaper trees almost full and equipment power creep, imho most of the r10 quests are too easy.

Just like Saekee wrote, I don't think power creep is the solution. Hardcore players will benefit most from the new items, casual players will still be useless in r10, since equip does not replace experience and knowledge of the game.

1st rule of thumb, never trust a Tronko screenshot.

    Go test lamania for yourself.

Only reason this thread exists is the screenshots of the high Wisdom. I see you.

You can get higher than that cheesing some more, but like his screenshot, not as useful as the build could be.

You can get more Wisdom, sure. I.e. I use eye + otto, you can get +7 if you replace them with wisdom, or you can sacrifice twists etc... I don't know, maybe you can reach 150, or more. Imho, It would still be a suboptimal choice.

I'd like to know where the cheesing is... Using pots? Reaper trees? Equipment? EA as destiny? I didnt use external buffs, or anything special.

Also, I'd like to know how the build could be more useful. More hp? Better defenses / saves? More healing spellpower (I'm missing quality and insightful devotion)?

Regarding equip, I just saw the 'new' Onyx ring.
    (INSIGHTFUL INT WIS CHA)
    Profane DC +1/Profane DC +2
    Insightful Dodge
    Insightful Resistance

I will use it for sure, dropping CC trinket (no need of parrying with insightful resistance) and putting ins con on goggles for slightly more hp.

For people R10 is already too easy - and developers make more powerful items? Why?

After hours each preview playing tetris, my build doesn't gain any stat, rather drops 1 or 2 points and I have to mess about to pull them back. I gain some spell type but have to work at it. Overall I could save myself a lot of hastle just ignoring the gear ... which sucks.

    Guess you got lucky.
