    Default U42 Preview 3: Filigree

    Sharn Filigree
    Below are the new sentient filigree sets which will have a chance to drop in Sharn and post-sharn content. These filigree are the start of generation 2 of Filigree and like with generation 1 (from Ravenloft to Killing Time) as new filigree are added to this generation they will drop in all content that these filigree drop in. Generation 1 Filigree will not drop in Sharn or post-sharn content.

    Does this filigree set bonus stack with LGS Ooze? They seem to be the exact same effects, which usually implies they won't stack, but it's a filigree set, which usually stacks with everything. Thus, I don't know what to expect.

    It stacks. Atleast as of the previous build on Lammania it did.

    Coalesced Magic Filigree Set

    Why would anyone use this set over Otto+Beholder sets.

    +2 DC to spells is much better than a little of spellpower or even +1 lvl with spells.

    Default Unbalance Set

    Me again,

    I think some set are too powerfull in their bonus :

    * The Crackshot Negotiator : +15 Range power, there is no set wich give the same in mele power, you should lower it to +10.

    * The Darkhallow : +20 Negative Amplification; in comparaison, the Sanctified Fervor (Rare Set!!!) give only 5 Healing amp... And actually, the only one with +20 healing amp is the double filigree Purity/Touch of Grace. The 2 pieces set bonus should be +10 and not +20. Same thing for the Shards of Mechanus with +20 Repair amp.

    * Reverberation : Bonus dmg proc on only 2 pieces !?! For all the other set, dmg proc for at least 3 pieces... Invert the bonus for 2 and 3 pieces. (And i won't post again for this +20 Sonic Power, some set already have the same or more in a specific spellpower with 2 pieces).

    * 2 piece: Inspire Courage +1
    * 3 piece: 4d6 +1d6 Sonic damage
    * 4 piece: some doublestrike/doubleshot, whatever is appropriate

    Reverb: Loses sonic damage on hit, gets positive damage from Cacophony, and new stuff
    * 2 piece: Sonic and Positive Spell Power
    * 3 piece: Sonic and Positive Spell Crit Damage (more than 3% ffs)
    * 4 piece: +2 DC for Evo/Ench, add 1d3 to Sustaining Song

    Smite Evil was not granting melee power from 5 piece set. I was using exalted smite so is this WAI and you have to use the regular Smite Evil to get the bonus?

    Confirmed on Lamannia: the rating debuffs stack with other sources of the same. Effects proc rate is about 2.5% on each, giving almost 100% uptime on a single target if you attack fast enough. Low procrate means these debuffs are NOT effective as a swap weapon.

    Why not change the 4 piece to a added bonus thats different when you trip targets? Something like: 'Tripped targets take 5% more dmg and are helpless' or 'When you attack a target with trip, they suffer a stacking debuff of X to saves, AC, PRR, or MRR'.

    You could even get creative with the debuffs and make them random, similar to the way City's beacon buffs your defenses, but opposite. I feel this would be more unique, while still being creative, new, and powerful.

    Looking at the trip set. Who was this made for?

    Trip really only works on a relatively small amount of builds, mostly wolfs and monks, mostly because the dc on LD's lay waste is broken, Bug: Feats, past lives, item boosts don't affect the DC of Lay Waste.
    Can you guys fix it so there are more build and gear options are available?

    The +3% Spell Crit Damage seemed really small, so I used my level 30 Bard as a baseline and made a quick excel sheet. I'm not really sure what baseline stats you used to calculate the damage, but I used: 800 Sonic Spell Power, 75% Spell Crit Chance and the +25% Crit Damage from the Legendary Feat.

    When I added this bonus to his damage, I found that the 3% Spell Crit Damage is a smaller damage increase than the +20 Sonic Spell Power. It is a fairly weak 4-piece bonus. +6% Sonic Crit Damage would work out to be a similar damage increase as adding another 20 Spell Power. Which is better but still not that impressive. +8 or +10% would be more reasonable. It would make the 4-piece bonus better than the 3-piece. Gen 1 filigree had a +50 Fire/Cold spell power 4-piece bonus and a +50 Electric Spell Power 2-piece bonus. Which is way better than both of these bonuses put together.

    There is a similar issue with the Soulweaver Filigree Set, the 5-piece 5% Positive Spell Crit bonus. It's a really small increase in healing and it's the 5-piece bonus of a rare set! It should be attractive enough to want to invest 5 of your filigree slots to get it. Switching the 4 and 5 piece around and instead of a +2 saves 4-piece bonus, a +2 Fort/Will save and you never fail either on a one 5-piece bonus would be a lot more attractive. Or, switching the 3 and the 5 piece and making it +2 or +3 caster levels with positive spells. (Embraced by light has 5-piece +2 caster levels with healing spells, which I guess is the same as positive spells? It's also a non-rare set)

    Either the Spell Crit bonuses should be made larger or they should move down to the two-piece bonus level. The other rare set, Coalesced Magic, has a three-piece bonus of 4% universal spell crit. A lot more reasonable for its level than having a 5% Positive 5-piece bonus. Just comparing the rare set bonuses: a 3-piece 4% universal vs a 5-piece 5% specific spell power type doesn't look right. It should be higher because it's a specific type and because it's a higher tier set bonus.

    (I know Sharn is set to launch next week, so I doubt there is time to really change much of anything. But the tiny spell crit damage bonuses are just lackluster and should be reevaluated.)

    I have seen 2 since ravenloft and neither of them plays quests on reaper and raids on elite, too squishy.
