There are builds on the forum.
I play a ranged, so don't know much about melee. I see that most melee arti's are multi class. With the harper tree you get int to hit and damage. Warforged for self repair is a no brainer.
If you're struggling then i think that self healing/repair is your big problem. Arti's are a jack of all trades but do excel at being able to level pretty easily.
I hope someone posts a decent link for you.
Just awestruck, whether it be a Dragon flying overhead Stormreach, that glowing character who just zoomed in'n'out of the Pub or that I can drink a Beholder under the table and best of all rescuing Damsels in distress.

    Character. Alivef was 1 x heroic completionist now I need Alchemist (+I have few more heroic pl's) 1 x epic completionist, 1 iconic Shadar Kai x 3. Gnome+Drow x3 racial pl's.

Strimtom lists base stat options for everything from 28- to 36-pts. I would probably use warhammers + Knight's Training feat. So something like this:
    Code:
    WF Meleeficer (U41)
    Artificer 20
    True Neutral Warforged

    Stats
                   32pt Level Up
                   ---- --------
    Strength 13 4: INT
    Dexterity 13 8: INT
    Constitution 16 12: INT
    Intelligence 18 16: INT
    Wisdom 6 20: INT
    Charisma 6 24: INT

    2. Grim Precision (Tier 3 Shadowdancer)
    3. School Specialist: Evocation (Tier 2 Magister)
    4. Precise: Evocation (Tier 2 Draconic)
I wanted the +15 Melee Power from the Warforged tree, but that doesn't leave enough for most tier-4 RMM enhancements. Alternatively, drop RMM APs down to Battlefist and use them for more Harper and/or WF.

Since you're asking about first-lifers, I'll presume you don't have much if any gear to start. So if you've got White Plume Mountain, farm yourself a heroic Whelm; if not, farm a Nightforge Hammer. They gain +1 crit range from Knight's Training, +1 from IC:Blunt feat, and +1 from Reconstructed Arms. In epics you'll gain another +1 from Pulverizer, though naturally I presume you'll have epic weapons by then.

Dual crossbows is the Inquisitive universal enhancement tree. Many diff builds, some with more or less (or no) levels of Artificer, have been posted.

Must be a dwarf, or possibly a gnome or halfling - most others would balk at 32 pints.
