I have met Peter Mayhew, when at a relativities wedding reception in the 90s. He lived about five of miles away from us at one stage. He was actually sat down for most of the time near the bar probably because it was easier for him than standing. I still vaguely remember how large his frame appeared.

Many years ago me and some friends met him and other star wars stars at a UK d&d convention. We were very lucky.

I was star struck. We had just got some drinks in the bar when they (R2D2, the ewok witch doctor, chewie, boba fett, oola and a stormtrooper) sat next to us. My friend bought them a round of drinks and we chatted to r2d2 and ewok. They weren't in costume obviously.

I will never forget it. Only me asked them to sign my convention brochure. What happened was awesome, they all signed happily except Chewie who mimicked Chewies 'growl'. Unforgettable.

1 thing r2d2 said was (he was very amusing, telling us stories) that they weren't paid a lot and more importantly didn't get any 'commission' on 'toy or aftersales'. Chewie was especially annoyed because after all he was 1 of the main characters of the movies.
