    Default Monks and Spell power.

    Hello all,

I have played monks in the past but never seriously looked at the finer details.

I am currently playing a Pure Monk, Hand wrap, Aasimar build. My heal Amp is 219 so I heal adequately, however I was wondering about other aspects. For Example: My Fire Spell power is 80. I punch an Ice Flenser using my fire attack for X damage. If I increased my Fire Spell Power to say....100 or 200.......Would that make my base Fire attack do more damage?

I guess in simpler terms, Are the monks elemental attacks effected by Spell power?

    All comments welcomed and appreciated.

Nearly all monk abilities scale with Melee Power, not Spell Power (wiki). The other elemental strikes scale with Melee Power, and the damaging Finishing Moves as well.

The Healing Ki finisher, on the other hand, scales with Devotion spellpower and Healing Lore items. On a pure or mostly-pure monk you'll definitely want these in addition to healing amp if you're planning on soloing

I've only used Ki Bolt myself, but AFAIK nearly all of those Henshin Core active abilities are...underwhelming.

    With a top-tier build in full blitz / prowess, you may hit 300 MP. Incinerating Wave scales with 3x MP, so effectively 900. (1+MP/100) * ((5d6 + 20 Fire) + (5d6 + 20 Force)) = 10*((17.5+20)+(17.5+20)) = 10*75 = 750 damage before crits

Only 750??? 5 digit HP mob, 750 will only irritate it... Assuming you get top damage and there isnt some reduction...

You're supposed to move with the wave, it deals that damage per second. It's a slow moving wave for a reason. It's tricky, but can add a little bit of AoE damage vs melee mobs that chase you.

Note that the one exception to "do I need spell power?" is Positive for your healing finishers. Devotion items and healing lore items do affect your healing output.
