This is true. A Bard version of the spell does exist, though, and if one managed to cast it (which *may* be possible via scrolls, will need to double-check the scroll structure) it would cause performance issues.

(As it goes, there are quite a few versions of spells that exist that aren't player-accessible.)

Though that one quest in Sharn is finally a step in the right direction.
