What would in everyone's opinion the ideal class for Tiefling be.

I don't think the Obscuring Darkness line is all that useful. While it has some decent buffs in it, the 30 sec duration/cooldown is unworkable due to the immobility it imposes on the player.
Breaking Fire Immunity and converting spellpower are probably the key features of the tree.
However, using them effectively isn't all that easy.
Breaking Fire Immunity and increasing Fire damage can be useful. But useful to who? Sorcerers and Druids can already do it. Favored Souls only have 2 Fire spells, both of which are AE. The only other class that gets Fire spells would be Clerics - and even in Fire Domain, the spells they get suffer from the same issues of being not very good single target or being AE. Other classes don't have Fire spells at all (except for the Tiefling's Scorch, which is too weak to be worthwhile except as an Immunity break).
Converting spellpower is another feature that looks great on first blush, but doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Being able to use your massive Fire spellpower for your Electric spells is nice. But spellpower is only have the story - spell critical is the other. Virtually all of the spell critical you receive from gear and enhancements (including enhancements in the Tiefling tree) is married to the same type of spellpower. A Tiefling Fire Savant will probably have 40%+ more spell critical for Fire than they do Electric. Yes, their Electric spells will be better than they would have been without the ability, but those Electric spells will still be anemic compared to an Air Savant geared for their role.
What the above says to me is that while you can (and should) use Tiefling for your next Sorcerer or Warlock, you're unlikely to use much more than the Cores. For this purpose, it's not a race like Gnome/Deep Gnome or Aasimar where the race is transformative for certain builds.
That being said, I think that the features discussed above can work well for Eldritch Knights. The ability to break FR immunity/buff Fire damage becomes helpful despite the existence of such features in the Fire Savant tree because you won't have the AP to go that deeply in Fire Savant. Likewise, because Spellsword dice can't crit, you're not nearly as concerned about the Spell Lore issue (and Eldritch Knight is all universal spell critical).
Tiefling is the best race for over all game play in any class in my opinion.
With the 12 racial action points that I have from the former racial completionist I am able to get.
75% wand and scroll mastery
Hellish Rebuke
Ferocious Rebuke
All of the cores.
Wand and scroll mastery is a MUST on any build in my opinion. As EVERYONE... EVERYONE!!!! should be off healing.
Hellish Rebuke, when combined with Ferocious rebuke gives you a chance to trip melee enemies without a save. Added CC is always nice, as it is added damage mitigation.
All of the cores... I am TWF right now, and at level 20, once a monster is at 25% health, it is adding basically 50-70 extra fire damage when considering both hands. This adds up fast!
I don't have the +2 racial tome, and I don't have the racial point from tiefling, so I am missing 2 points that could be going to the extra saves enhancement. More saves is needed in every build... I don't care who you are, I don't care what your saves are at... You need more!
Tiefling getting +2 spell saves from the feat that they are auto granted, and having an enhancement that gives an extra 3 spell saves is ridiculous, and if you wanted to push it further... You can make obscuring darkness give you another 3 to your saves, for a total of +8... There is absolutely no reason to not play tiefling in my honest opinion.

7 LoH is no where near enough on a melee, its almost enough on a range build, and its plenty on a caster with good CC.
as far as tiefling, +35 fire spell power and +8% fire crit chance on a +4 cha race... as I said above, fire sorc
the ability to use fire spell power in place of elec or acid means instead of trying to fit +31 points into earth/air savant, you put 16 into the tiefling racial to get your secondary
