Default [Cannith] FLF Newbie Friendly Guild that will let us Noobie's Drive (And fail)

    Hey Folks,

So I have 2-5 players looking for people who are okay with actually letting us EXPERIENCE some of the content.

So far what I've noticed is because this game is old, everybody ever just zergs through everything.

The first time running new dungeons is an awesome experience I find, but it involves plenty of things that most veteran players are just NOT cool with. Specifically, dying a lot, getting lost, and making decisions slowly.

What I find is that almost everybody who isn't us just BLOWS through the quests. My guess is that this is a combination of knowledge of the dungeon(s), being Past-Life'd a bajillion times, and knowledge of exactly what named gear they want for their builds. What this means is those characters tend to be FAR AND AWAY better than my Arti or whomever else. So even if we get 1 or 2 "newbie friendly" folks to run us through a dungeon, what happens by default is that they just blow through the thing and we basically just follow along like a lost puppy making 0 decisions and with 0 risk. It's just not fun.

So, if any guild is in the mood for taking a few folks for some runs and letting them drive, even though it's likely SUPER painful, that's what we're looking for.

A player's first time through should not be squandered chasing a zerg party, agreed 100%. The game is rich, and some of the quests have true visual/plot reveals that are too good to steal from the new player.

What server are you on, or does it matter?

I started playing in 2013 and primarily soloed for years until I found a guild static group and learned all the gaps my self teaching and the wiki didn't cover. The reason was exactly as you express. I learned nothing and felt I missed too much joining vets in pugs and had the same disadvantages you list. Gaining game knowledge is a long long road in DDO it sounds like you have a solid core for your own guild. if you just want the buffs and a ton of other new players with occasional help available from guild chat try Tycoons on Cannith.

The letting new players drive thing is soo hard for vets to do consistently I have done it on occasion lots or people have i am sure but individual goals and the vets playing the game for their own enjoyment too make that type of guardian/silent guide a tough roll to fill for long.

I absolutely agree with all of that. Honestly I think it's a big ask to let new players drive. The game is unfortunately incentivized to rush EVERYTHING. And the difference in time cost between new people driving and vets is VAST.

I'm toying with the idea of just creating our own guild or something.

You said Tycoons on Cannith? I'm interested, what is it about that guild that makes you mention them?

I'm on Cannith. It does matter, we're level 6 on that server which feels like a lot to the TRULY new players. (I have a 19 on that server too but that's from years ago and that run through was indeed squandered behind a zerg party and I dislike that fact)

Hey Psyclown, I also tend to run a lot of content at enjoyment speed, rather than optimal leveling speed the first time or two through...

I'd say it doesn't matter that much which guild you join if you're just looking for buffs and already have a decent group to play with. I ran some with the guild I was in and a lot of times ran solo or posted 'learning run' LFM's and that worked for me.

Also, I'm starting a twitch stream this Saturday to run exactly that way - to focus more on the story and exploration of the adventure. And I'll be playing either with viewers that want to join that playstyle or PUGs. I'm on Cannith and you're more than welcome to join me - though I'll be starting L1 on Saturday. A buddy and I are also starting a new guild - Murderhobo - to go along with it and you'd be welcome there, too. We don't have much to offer in the way of buffs yet (L13 atm), but we'll get there quick and you can have the satisfaction of knowing you make a difference every time you get awarded renown for your guild! Feel free to send me PM, find me on Cannith (Vixcious), or on twitch or twitter (3kobolds).

Either way, good luck and have fun!

I mentioned Tycoons because it is absolutely packed with new players. Cannith is the default server for new accounts so it gets the most new players and Tycoons invites everyone not guided all the time. So it has many new players and a few players of more advanced experience levels. I have a alt in tycoons who is primarily a bank mule. Every time I log on to that mule the chat is fairly active and I imagine you could find alot of newer players to group with there.

There are other guilds who have a more balanced mix of vets and newer players. Hand of Death jumps to mind and they are much more of a organized guild who do things together. My guild The Silver Legion Takes in newer players too but typically one or two at a time. Our website is here for info on joining.. https://www.guildmedieval.com/forum/ There are a few big guilds that I am unsure of their recruiting practices but full of cool people I enjoy grouping with..
