VIP only needs to pay 1 month to get their status. You're assuming that premium players only pay 10$. Well, if that's your assumption, then it is fair to assume VIP players only pay 1 month to get VIP for this month. Most premium players have paid more than VIP players.

Devil's advocate here, sorry. If the F2P player introduced both the VIP and the Premium player to the game, are they not the bigger earner for SSG?

That is not entirely accurate, Residential accounts for ISPs do not. Commercial accounts do, that is one of the many reasons why I always get a commercial account for my home.
That and it is against terms to run a web server from a residential account.

If an ISP provides any guarantees for uptime numbers it is completely voluntary, and not Federally mandated as is the case for telephony providers.

It's usually in whatever contract you negotiate with the ISP. So it's not an "if", it's a real thing. As stated by a previous poster, this is generally business accounts, not your home cable/DSL or even fiber. Think about a server farm - if they do not have a "guaranteed uptime" clause with their service provider they could stand to lose millions of dollars in revenue due to outages.

I get what you are saying and you are phrasing it with a lot more common courtesy than the majority of the complainers. I would call your statement a reasonable complaint where i think many of the others are unreasonable expectations and entitled brats whining.

I could agree with you if people were flaming, or using ALL CAPS, or maybe bold and underlined words with lots of !!!!!!! at the end of their whiny self entitled bratty unreasonable expectations. But in reality you simply attributed motives to other people's posts which did not exist anywhere except in your own mind.

But i also think we need to look at the entire package and how it is aimed at the community as a whole. The hardcore gamers or even folks like me that aren't hard core but have played a long time won't get any use out iif the raiders box, but we will get use out of the xp potions and ddo points.

Also i think we all don't realise just how many casual type players are in this game who can immidiately use an item from the box.

So this is the real crux of the situation. Your opinion is different than other people's opinion, so in order to make your opinion more relevant, you do so by knocking other people down. This does not make you a better person. If the forums bother you so much that you are "disgusted" by someone engaging with SSG with a different opinion than your own, perhaps you should avoid them for a while.

Sorry but I have noticed a distinct case of people complaining about the compensation we are getting for the down time. "I have raider's rewards boxes." "I have DDO Points" Well that's great for you, but you need to understand, the compensation needed to be as broad as it could. It needed to be something that the MAJORITY of players could use. "Well I have these things so there for I demand better." Come on guys. Be glad they are giving us anything. What were you expecting? +20 hearts of wood?

What ever commandline SSG enters.... the cost is ZERO. They lose absolutely nothing if the give us a level1 hireling or an Otto's box....

Typing a command /give all shiny present.... cost the same as SSG giving people nothing at all.... even if it is a +20 heart of wood.

What I lost during the downtime, is not a shiny.... I lost XP.
In 4 days I can get a 1&1/2 lives completed... Some out of date raid item, which most likely will end up being fed to my sentient weapon for 200XP does nothing to replace the 6 million XP I didnt get over the down time..... it does nothing to help me get to the TR finishline.

Like I said, the only thing that the downtime took from me is XP and I for one would like an ottos box to help recover some of that XP... not some obsolete raid item I will never use

So why does it have to be Otto's, then? If it's just code, maybe they could code a binary choice for each account -- Raider's OR Otto's.

I've been away for a while and have returned to working on different characters, and since the days when CitW was fresh, many players have moved on. I have a dark horse alt that surprised me, and I'd like to see it through. This alt would benefit greatly from a Raider's Box, but if they offered a choice, you could also have your Otto's. Everybody wins.

Of course, the key difference may be that Raider's has always been a gift, while Otto's has been offered for sale..
