Do you really believe the frustration people are expressing in various ways... is because the servers are down? Do you honestly think so many.. are so shallow?

I would argue that the bulk of the frustration is feeling like your dad just told you..... Because I said so, now leave me alone, I'm busy. It comes from being told we will be updated but instead getting told nothing but..... You stay here, I'll be right back.... Of course I'm coming back, your important to me.

To many of us, an update is saying something like:
We moved the servers and when we booted them up we got the Blue Screen of Death, Hope to have them up by 10:00
Then the next update something like:
Well, we finally got the servers to boot but ran into a DirectX error..... hoping to have this taken care of by midnight.

That is all most of us really want... We are related to the patient and the doctor keeps telling us to go sit in the waiting room and be quiet.

Well, there is a very big chance that it will be rolled back to prior to opening the worlds again.... at least you did get to play!

edit: you should have ran a raid, if we can all play every 3 days, we are in the clear!!!!
Since I did not know who I was, they made me take a test so now I know.
I lead Blue then Green and Red. No Yellow. That means, I like to figure things out first, I like to find a way to please everybody but do not waste my time. And no, I do not like people... Thus I play solo and I have gimped gear....

It's more like, we are all addicts and are going through our first true week of withdrawal. If we actually in a real detox situation, no one of us would have access to the internet, twitter, and any other forms of communication regarding ddo. Let alone the game itself.

Unfortunately we are all going through a BOTCHED version of a detox vacation retreat and the small little torchers of getting bits of info and extended downtime are really just enraging our addiction to ddo, instead of it subsiding.

Cordovan is going to need a psychiatric degree to get through all of our issues. Medication might even be needed. Something stronger than bacon and brocolli.

Well, it s Saturday morning, almost 9:30, east coast (USA), no sign of opening anything here.. and i got a VIP, shell out 300 for the special event at the beginning of the year (Limited 1000 purchased), and still get the internal error (referred to as update downtime) so no access whatsoever...

I know they will fix this eventually.. but when is this eventually.. i dont know.. and hearing some players where kick out of world (deleted?) , that s not comforting at all...

Except we are all adults, right? As an adult, there are many times when I have to tell my kids, "Leave me alone. I am working." The more they interrupt and ask me questions or tell me about their days, the longer my work will take and the less I can focus on what my kids are saying because I know I have to get my work done. (And how many times have you told your kids to stop bugging you because you need to finish this raid? Kids don't want to know the details of the end boss you are fighting, they just want you to drop everything and pay attention to them.)

For those of us immersed in the game, we are getting more information than others. We watch both the DDO and LOTR twitch channels for updates as well as Facebook and now the forums. I am sure they are already working on the long "This is what happened..." post, but (1) most of us already know the problems--yesterday no one could log on (including SSG staff) because our passwords were not being recognized; today people logged on only to discover items/ packs/ VIP status/ characters etc. missing (2) to post in bits and pieces would mean some people would miss things (as they are already doing), and since this is all happening at a data center (where none of the staff of SSG have ever visited to the best of my knowledge), I don't know if SSG quite understands everything that is going on. In addition, SSG does not want to complain in a public medium about what the data center is doing because SSG will still need to use that data center.

My concern is not when DDO is going to go up, but more about poor Cordovan, who seems to be drinking himself to death with energy drinks.

The game worlds have reopened. Any issues seen during the few minutes we were open earlier should be resolved, including old password issues.

Based on Facebook posts, Premium and VIP players were reduced to F2P--this meant some characters were no longer accessible. It also seems some recent things/store purchases were missing.

Cordovan has said on livestream everyone who is VIP/special purchase will be reimbursed for at least the days they were not able to access things. They are also extending all special events. Aside from that, they are not making any announcements about what else they will give users who have been inconvenienced. The main reason they are not making an official announcement is because until they are running without bugs, they have no idea how much of an inconvenience it has been.

I have two (not official) theories on why this happened (1) someone at the data center didn't put plug a into slot b and therefore the hardware with this information is not connected to the rest of the hardware or (2) some software didn't get uploaded correctly. Most of these people are working on little to no sleep at this point and so it might take a little longer than normal to figure out the source of the real error.

    Thanks cordo,
3 days of downtime must really have caught you guys off guard
It's a decent testement to your work ethic that things are running again
    I know it's been hell
    But I'll salute you nonetheless
And to the data center group that put it back together again
Let's hope the future is brighter than the past
As i recall, last dc move was followed by 3 months of lag problems
Here's to hoping the new hamsters are supercharged
When this weekend is over and the trial passed,
    Don't forget your sleep
And don't forget to drink water!

    Why yes, yes I do.

And frankly I would rather they spend their time fixing the problem than explaining it to me. This is not a RL emergency where a government has to give explanations to the masses to avoid RL havoc. If players aren't smart enough to understand that NO ONE wants the game functioning more than SSG, then: OUT OF THE GENE POOL with them.

Still getting stuck on loading screen

Oh well. This permanent bug will never get fixed I think. Was really hoping this would go.

    Default Thank You

As someone who works in IT for a global bank, and has been part of a data centre move, I realise the unexpected issues which can arise. It's not as simple as unplugging everything at one site and plugging it in at another. And I appreciate the hard work and hours it takes to resolve.

Thank you all at SSG for busting a gut to get things back online.

22 hours, try more like 4 days.
