Default Downtime Notice: Saturday, March 9th

UPDATE 10:00 AM Eastern: The game worlds have reopened! Any issues seen during the brief window we were up earlier should be resolved.

UPDATE 3/9/2019 5:43 am eastern: We are bringing back down the game worlds while we troubleshoot an issue with characters not receiving their proper account unlocks.

The DDO Game Servers and http://myaccount.standingstonegames.com will be offline for maintenance on Wednesday, March 6th from 2:00 AM to 12:00 AM Eastern (-5 GMT). Thanks for your patience, and we'll see you back in the game soon!

Note: We apologize for the lengthy downtime, but this downtime is due to some significant data center work being done. We hope to reopen the worlds early, but that will depend on how things go throughout the day on Wednesday.

Just to confirm, are you sure it's 12:00 AM (midnight) and not 12:00 PM (noon). 22 hours is a very large downtime.

During the LOTRO stream, Cordovan did say that the expected downtime would be 22 hours, so I think he really means midnight.

Yes, sorry. This is due to hardware work being done.

So what you are saying is I can tell my significant other that on Wednesday March 6th I am not going to play DDO, and you all are going to help me keep that promise .

There are still 2 hours of potential game time between midnight and 2am. She'll never find out.

    Default I think it's a plot

Bah so much for playing on Ash Wednesday...which is a public holiday in many countries.

Oh well, I guess that's incentive to get out of the house :-)

Last couple days have been getting people kicked from Server without warning, and that little message @ the top "You have been booted from the Server".

Any explanation as to why this is happening? Over on Orien

I understand the difficulties the team must be experiencing in this situation with the impact on service levels from the unpredictable outcome of the system. I hope a permanent and working solution can be forged from the dedicated, valued and hard working engineers that power SSG and further strengthen the unique and embracing relationship you have with those passionate and understanding customers. I feel that in going forward together the future will be harmonious and free of issues as I have faith in the excellent levels of competency that is SSG and I don't fully expect I will ever have to engage the support channel again.

Will this improve performance and lag or another cost saving move ?

For the many who are paying for access to the game, just what in game "freebies" can we expect for the 22 hours of downtime, being said that even the 2 hours up time is not in my awake time so will be 2 days between access?

Actually, for those of us paying (VIP), it "should" represent an extension of our subscription by 1 day.

There don't need to be any. By agreeing to the EULA, you surely read this bit?

"...may change, modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Game at any time"

Surely missing a day of game play won't ruin your life? I know I'll be script writing or perhaps attending a D&D tabletop one-shot session.

I dont want to come off sounding stupid or being rude to anyone, but..... if you sub per month and $15.00 and there are on average 30 days in a month then your asking for a freebie for a one day update costing you 50cents.
maybe you should just let it go and be glad they are making improvements to the game/server. Do we really need ask for a freebie??
    Just saying.....

If they said 12 hours and it ran 15, people would be irate. If they say 22 and it runs 18, people will be overjoyed.

Tell 'em 22 hours, but then deliver in 18. It's a proven methodology.

"When asked if the developers hate the players, as they make so many challenging jumping puzzles, their response was that they have what they consider a “… normal amount of contempt for the players.” This is good. A dungeon master should always nurse a healthy contempt for his or her players."
