    Default 18fighter/2monk TWF

Hi, the build below is what I am looking at making for my next life. I have been debating the 2 monk over the capstone in kensei. My plan is to wield scimitars from rage quests or khopeshes/longswords if I get Razor/Calamity. I was looking at Aasimar for the healing hands to keep myself up a bit. I was also thinking I could go Wood Elf for pluses to scims as well. Thank you

    1. Why are you taking Elysium? It only effects summoned creatures.

    2. I noticed you have the rogue past life, if you are planning to go for sneak attack, you should invest into the *hide* skill, and get scion of the ethereal planes, it scales up wonderfully trust me.

    3. You are starting as an aasimar scourge, are you going to use a +1 heart of wood to get rid of the first ranger level?

    4. I would highly suggest investing into intelligence, that way you can benefit from the harpers enhancements, *Know the Angles*. Lots of people will use STR along side one of the following, Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma. - - Intelligence gives you boosts with *Know the Angles*, Wisdom will give you boosts from Divine Might, or an ability in the falconry tree that I forgot the name of, Charisma will also give you benefits from Divine might. Which, Divine might is easily acquired by taking 1 Favored soul, or 1 cleric level.

    5. I personally would strongly recommend getting yourself divine might, if you even have to come up with a 12/6/2 split, or a 14/4/2 split. Then taking Power attack, with the cleaves that you can get after it. The ability, *Lay waste* is a wonderful trip ability that works on most anything if you have a high strength, and its great for survivability.

    6. Which brings me to your stat points... I never max a stat on any build, except for DC casters, or thrower builds. Mainly because the gain you get from those last 2 points on a stat isn't really that great for the investment that it requires. You could spend those *2 point* which is a lot more than 2 points, on something like intelligence, or charisma, and get far more to the main stat using Know the Angles, or Divine might. Also, having more skill points never hurts.

You should build to your strengths as aasimar
    And go wisdom and falconry
    Go longswords and make soulrazor

I've been experimenting with 18/2 ranger monk
    Because ranger gets extra feats
See my soulrazor build in ranger

Healing hands will keep you in the game in high reaper
But not with an avg wisdom

    1. I didn't mean to take elysium whoops lol
    3. Yes, I was going to use a +1 LR heart.
4-6. I really like the Know the Angles Idea. I believe I will adjust for that

So I just did an 18 Fighter / 2 Monk TWF life. I went WIS based Falconry build, and while I wasn't doing an Aasimar life, the build would be well suited for it as high WIS (boosted by Monk Water stance and Fighter Power Surge) + healing hands = high self healing. The changes to Falconry moves in melee have taken it from the trash level it originally was, to strong active CC. Stunning Blow + Trip + Diving trip + Strike blinds made solo leveling much easier. I did go for Scimi/Khopesh as that is what I had handy from my Ranger lives.

Where I don't think giving up Ranger capstone is worth it, I do think it is for Fighter. Monk gives 10% off hand chance from Shintao (Ranger already gets 100%, so doesn't need that), Evasion (Ranger also already gets that), 1.5[W] from Dance of Flowers, and Monk stances to boost DPS or survival. Losing the 15% doublestrike isn't a big deal as you can push 90% double strike during Reaper boost anyways.

That said, AP is still tight.

    Kensai: 36 AP
    Falconry: 31 AP
    Shintao: 10 AP
    Henshin: 3 AP

Feeling a little lazy, so didn't spell out the AP spends, but I can if people really want it. The big thing is I didn't spend any base AP on racial as I wasn't Aasimar and didn't have anything I cared about. You can pull 3 from Henshin and 3 from Falconry pretty easily. After that you need to start asking questions if it is worth it. If you have any racial PLs or a tome, you can afford the cores and leave the rest alone. If you have enough past lives, you can even afford T5 Aasimar, but honestly I wouldn't eat into the other trees after freeing the 6 points.

Note that even dumping STR, between Fighter Tactics feats, Deadly Instincts (note that you cannot use Divine Might or Know the Angles in conjunction with these as all Trances are exclusive), and gear, you can still reach end-game values.

Also I would suggest several changes on feats:
    - Dire Charge instead of Arcane Warrior. Dire Charge is a must for any melee main as CC is the only way to do high Reapers effectively.
    - (already mentioned) Ethereal instead of Elysium. Ethereal is still the king of DPS for TWF builds, and Unbalancing Strike is an option to reliably apply that DPS if needed. If you are truly struggling to land your CCs from tactics and Falconry, Astral Plane is another option... though I'd look at fitting in more Fighter Tactics feats first.
    - Mass Frog instead of Elusive Target. Part of the advantage of a WIS build. A 5 target insta-kill that works on undead and constructs is <3
    - Fitting in Imp Crit Bludgeon. Having handwraps for Oozes, Rust Monsters, Skeles, and other Blunt DR is what you should do. These get enough use to justify the feat, especially on a feat rich build.

There are other changes I would make, but this is really where the flexibility of Fighter shines. If you have the past lives and Reaper points to cap Dodge with your existing gear, you don't need the dodge feats, but some people may. Epic Damage Reduction and Blinding Speed are other flexible feats as it is PRR vs MP/tactics where Blinding Speed can be covered by buffs/gear. Between Fighter Tactics feats, Weapon feats, and defensive feats, you can adjust to fit your play style.
Pinc Punch - Unarmed Monk (Uber Completionist) // Porc the Orc - Paladin // Thunderborn - Warlock // Imustbe Emo - PewPew Rogue // Aquamine Artifact - Crafting Artificer (shelved)

Hey, DrawingGuy, (or anyone for that matter who has an opinion) i'm back after a few years of a break and want to try this build for a Fighter TR Life for my Main. Could you break it down with an Aasimar 36-pt build? I've got +2 Tomes on all my stats. Would probably go TWF w/Khopesh as my Bard already has a bunch i can use, plus i've always kinda liked them. I guess i would need help mostly on where to put stats, (i believe Aasimar are Wisdom based and can use that for to-hit/dmg??) would i take both Monk levels at 1 & 2, and the break down of where to put all those AP's... stuff like that. As i stated, been gone for a few years and just getting used to all the new Enhancement trees etc. not sure if it matters, but i am VIP and have access to the Falconry tree, etc...

    Thanks in advance!

    and...

Default My version of the 18 ftr /2 monk

    Hello,

Since we are on the topic... below is my version of the 18 ftr / 2 monk that I am planning on running next life.

I am hoping to be able to achieve a near max dodge with great tactics without sacrificing dps. Feel free to adapt it to whichever race you'd like. There are extra AP in harper/ helf / ninja spy that you can move around however you see fit. Also, please provide any feedback to help me make it better. Cheers!
