Leagues (Path of Exile style) ~ LOTRO success

I would adore it if DDO had a server that was reset every 4 months with the characters given a free server swap at the end. A lot of new players are intimidated by people who have a bjillion past lives. They feel like they'll never catch up. In path of exile, the league resets give people a fresh feeling of the game. The game becomes new player friendly by relative comparison. The success of LOTRO's classic server is more a testament to a FRESH START than anything else IMO.

The only problem I see with this it that DDO has next to no new players.

I fear that a sever like this would kill the game faster, as it would make it look like an empty ghost town.

As a fan of PoE I love the idea, the problem I see is the lack of development resources to see it through and the inability of the game to even run on a very high population server. It would be great to have leagues with gear released specifically for the season that is unavailable through any other means than actually playing in that specific league/season. It would probably provide a huge rush of players to play on the temp server with lots of grouping/raiding options and leave the legacy servers completely empty, however.
