gear for a sorc at 20

my original plan was to go to 20 and tr, but i am having such a blast with my sorc.

i am looking for advice on gear at 20 to around 28 ish

I play mostly at cap, so I can comment more about 28+ gear than 20 gear.

The beauty of slavers sorcery is how flexible it is! Also, slavers named items can be made into set pieces, so you're not limited to just the customizable slots.

As such, I'd figure out what non-slavers gear you definitely want as well, then use slavers to fill in the gaps. I tend to reserve the belt for ravenloft due to the spell power belts form there (if you use fire/acid, or electric/cold, you'll want those belts). The Legendary Gauntlets of Innate arcanume grant both +19 cha and +4 quality Cha and +8 evocation DCs, so is a great glove item for sorcs. Legendary Softsole Slippers grant +9 insightful Cha (and are easier to obtain that the cloak from Killing time that grants +9 insightful cha), so those are a good foot slot item. I also like to get Profane Well Rounded +2 from somewhere (either armor or ring... legendary disciple of the dawn for cloth armor) to really max your charisma score.

So that leaves you one or both ring slots (legendary spinneret is great for one of them, and can be part of the sorcery set), cloak (slavemaster's), Wrist (custom), Neck (custom), Helm (I like the legendary hardened hide), Armor (slave rags), orb (mutilator of minds) or the staff (slave master's staff), and a trinket (custom). Unless you really want the exceptional spell lore and spell power bonuses from the barovian nobles regalia, but that RL set bonus to DCs does not stack with slavers (and the slavers set bonus is higher).

The shadow dargon scale cloth caster armor can also grant a +1 profane bonus to all spell DCs, but Profane Well Rounded +2 does the same thing plus more (as the DC increase is from a stat increase, and all your stats will go up with it). Though if you have a free ring slot, you can get profane well rounded there (band of insightful command) and open up your armor for the shadow caster armor.

So depending on the type of caster you're building, you have options. (so of course, more details the better lol... also, will you be raiding to farm the best of hte best, or do you want to stick with named loot you can get in normal quests?)

hard to make sugestion without any specifics, like playstyle, race.
a few important piece of gear:

-if you are a fire or acid sorc, you want a burnscar sash https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Burnscar_Sash because it give enhancement bonus to spell power and wil stack with regular and insightful gear.

because of this if you dip in a secondary savant tree, these will give ya a boost also as long you combo the right trees.

-then the usual stchick, CHA, insightful CHA, CON, insightful CON, regular spellpower (equipment), insightful spellpower, lore items, evocation, insightful evocation, false life, wizardry, resistance, parrying (if possible), spell save, insightful spell save, sheltering, either from named items or via cannith crafting, here is a few decent item worth checking

I stick with what got me to 20 at 20, especially if it includes a heroic beacon of magic set. You will probably want that belt at least, probably till you can slot in the epic version at 29. or epic green steel spell power options I know I do. The robe is decent the gloves are sooo bad though.

At 21 A coalesced coinage orb is nice for some builds especially running in EA. Or stick with macabre scepter and a CC orb with school spell focus4 insightful school focus2 and parrying4. You can actually make this at level 18.

A Cannith crafted necklace with sheltering and constitution/insightful constitution.

Epic memories of kindness helm or pansophic if you switch up spell damage type alot.

A CC cloak with charisma/ insightful charisma and spell sight.

On rings I'm ticking with a spinneret till 28 and the epic version. The other one can be Cannith Crafted. I am partial to something with spell power and lore.

I like the token of the proven trinket. That flash invis is very underrated defense imo.

Named goggles and bracers are meh whatever . Maybe you have a good heroic green steel option. Or Cannith Craft, CC choices for sorc are pretty much school dc's in goggles At lvl 17 you have the school focus 4 insightful focus 2 insightful spell pen 2. Holding out till lvl 23 gets you 5/3/3 versions.

Bracers Cannith craft I go with resistance (saves) +9 and dodge bonus 11 or mysterious bracers.

Boots are waiting till lvl 24 and orcish privateer. Maybe a CC dex 10 insightful dodge 4 or insightful dex 4 Jump 18 with a topaz of striding or a canith boots of propulsion or the House C Challenge rock boots. Or the heroic Ravenloft boots with freedom and a topaz of striding.

You can earn these commendations using the Kings Forest slayer area or quests.


If playing as a more traditional blaster type you want to look for things that boost
1. Available Spell Points
2. Charisma
3. Spell DCs such as Evocation/Conjuration for attacks and possibly Enchantment/Necro for supplemental spells like CC or instant kills

As for any character you want to make sure you get a level appropriate CON and False Life item to boost your HP

Cannith Challenges have 4 elemental items that all have very good level 20 spellpower: rock boots (acid), bracers of wind (electric), cloak of flames (fire), and frozen tunic (cold). There's also the Blasting Chime for sonic. So that's a good place to start.

Pansophic circlet (memoirs of an illusionary larcener) is a good choice for the insightful spellpower.

You should absolutely wear whichever Ravenloft belt does your spellpower (burnscar or thrummingspark) until you can put on either legendary greensteel or the legendary ravenloft belt.

If you feel like farming a bit, the Epic Ring of Elemental Essence from Phiarlan Carnival can be nice, although it has less spellpower than the cannith items. Almost all the decent gear that lands right at level 20 comes from challenge events, and you kinda have to wait for those to happen.

The best stat item you can get is crafted, but if you aren't a crafter you can get a Shimmer from Mines of Tethymar that's pretty solid for base charisma right at 20, and then get an Epic Coalesced Coinage out of Another Man's Treasure for level 21.
