Default Statues in Hall of Heroes

I have an idea to add some flavor to the Hall of Heroes.

Each of those statues has a plaque underneath. A perfect place to add a back story for that statue. Why did that character deserve a statue?

We have some very creative players in this game. Why not create a writing contest and allow players to write those back stories and make the winning entries the new back stories for those statues?

Should get some very cool and interesting entries.

I was sure these statues (or ones that actually looked like a particular player's toon) would be modeled after noteworthy players at some point.

If that was the intent, I'm guessing it's not anymore which is a shame.

There was that weird patch note, that said so-and-so hireling has been added, "this is important!"

I always wondered about that line. I expected a secret door to be found at the base or something

Warforged Barbarian Hireling available on Korthose. Makes Cannith Crystal and other lv 1 quests a breeze!
That's not lag, it's just DDO trying to become turn-based again.

No way to know which statue is him as we cannot read what, if anything, is written on the plaques.

maybe the most OP first lifer. Thing is, he isn't a great hireling because he is OP, but because he actually goes after the enemies. Frenzy, the lvl 3 WF barb is almost as aggressive. Many of the other melee hires, will run up, hit a mob once or twice and then lose interest and wander off.

I have definitive proof that Byron can solo elite korthos. For goofs, I once used a bunch of invisibility pots and stayed hidden and let Byron solo the quests. All I did was guide him along and point him at the enemies. He soloed it with little issues.

I would very probably make a serious effort for any such contest.

I think at the very least they should list the items that the statue is wearing and where you can get them.

Byron is awesome. I think it's fine to have him that way for the newbs that are struggling. But I feel almost like I am exploiting when I use him . However, I switch to reaper at level 2 and that wipes the smirk off his face. The only way reasonably sure way to keep him alive is to park him, kill the kobold shamans, agro everything else, and then call him. Since nothing is agroed on him, he can just chop them up as is his wont.

If you ever want a recreatable case of broken hireling AI though... at the end of The Collaborator I park him before going to the end fight, because I don't want him killing Jacoby before I kill the sahuagin (Onslaught!). But after the sahuagin are dead, and he is summoned, there is absolutely nothing I can do to convince him to attack Jacoby. He just stands there, completely unresponsive. I have done that fight dozens of times and it is the same every time.

Something cool that could be implemented...

"In this enchanted statue lives the spirit of _________, once a very powerful and noble member of the ______ house/clan/guild that spent many years vanquishing _______.

    (DM)
When you approach the statue, you sense that it longs for something from you... An offering perhaps?"

It could request collectables that drop specifically from that monster(orange+ versions only) in exchange for a unique buff(or small gift?) that stacks universally, but is either limited in duration or by how many you can have active at a time from different statutes, or by how often you can activate the statue(s). I could foresee a very cool scenario encouraging people to run older or less popular content to hunt down specific species of orange+ mobs. This would make the halls more relevant.

I think they should have player statues there if you meet some kind of condition/challenge/competition
