Default Is asking for a ship invite for buffs wrong?

    *snip*

I got the response I was looking for, moving on.

    1. You were grinding for favor which equals money. Deal with your starter issues.
    2. You used the LFM inappropriately.
    3. You spammed up to three people in the same guild.

The right thing to have done is joined up with a group, then maybe ask at that point.

People have been ripped off in the past with chests on ships. Same reason why I don't pick up hitchhikers. This ain't the 60's flower power and peace movement anymore. If the roses aren't red enough for ya, maybe it's time to take a break.

Well, in the level 200 guild I'm in, we are more than happy to give ship invites. Not 100% sure, but I don't think you can steal stuff from guild chest when not in the guild (which I guess isn't stealing if you are in the guild). Not sure why you got so much grief.

I think it depends on who you ask, and just as importantly - how you ask. It's not a cut and dry, binary yes/no, answer.
Seems like you rubbed multiple people in that guild the wrong way, and without the full context of how the whole situation progressed it's impossible to really gauge this situation. And, you got the buffs... they just rescinded the invitation for the future. That says to me that there is more to the story than has been presented.

I don't think anyone has a right to expect the guild to say Yes. It's not an a given that they want strangers on their ship. It's a favor, pure and simple. Is it a neighborly thing to do - yes. But if they say No, that's the end of the discussion. Their stuff, their right. IMHO, the thing to do in this case is just move on and let it go - not complain about it to the community at large.

I don't think this post is in good form.

If I got a blind request like that...I might have ignored it, unless I knew the person.

If I got a blind request like that I WOULD ignore it.

If it repeated the asker would have gone on ignore.

I've been offered ship buffs on various low level characters when just fiddling around off my main server, and declined usually. When I'm off main it's generally as a reminder of just how hard this game is for someone without all the gear/pastlives...
