average <> peak. Those are two different things. Average is 260. Peak is 500. 500/.15= 3333 peak users across all servers. Which is roughly 476 per server at peak. All of that assumes the .85 is representative. I kinda doubt that. I think that the 10%/90% is more accurate, but who knows for sure. The forum poll probably has a +/- 10% reliability factor to it. The sample size is small, the sample is probably not representative, the sample relies on self reporting, and there is no ability to prevent voter fraud (socks).
You do understand that concurrent/peak users are typically only around 5-7% of your actual customer base, right?

-I can dance on the head of a pin as well. Fleet of foot and all that. Heh, the tourists love that stuff.
-You require my counsel, yes? -Be doubly careful. I'm sure all manner of stupid mousetraps await our toes in the dark. A trap most devious for the careless of foot.
Axel has a nice video about the new Oracle data that came out.
His estimate was ~40k players, comparing that to mine of about ~65k from when this thread was posted a year ago.

Triple All
Ghallanda forever.
So has the OP and friends accepted that Steams data is wildly useless for this game, or they still trying to hand wave it?
I mean 15 Yes vs 67 No, that's such a large difference that even a semi biased sampling population would support that non-steam is far more common then steam.
Now putting my geek hat on. Over the years I've been called upon to fix innumerable MMO client related issues with friends, linkshell mates, guild mates, clan mates and whatever else brothers want to call themselves these days. Every time someone was using steam it made the process 10x more difficult and my recommendation was always to remove the steam client and install an independent client if possible. It's just how Steam handles dynamic application homes and installation, greater probability of something going wrong during an update on older MMOs. I use steam a lot, I love it for keeping my saved games synched across all my PC's, I would never use it for an older MMO that was created before or outside of the Steam ecosystem.
