Chat then World Disconnection Issue: Information Wanted

This came up on the livestream today, and I'd like to get a better sense of scope and commonality on this.

Someone in the group mentioned that in recent weeks they've been getting disconnected from the chat server, then their game client has crashed, requiring them to log back into the game world. This person mentioned that it's been happening every 20 minutes or so for them. After this was brought up in voice chat, several people in Twitch chat said they too have been experiencing this issue.

Clearly this isn't happening to everybody, or the volume of reports on it would be a lot higher. I have been playing a fair amount of DDO myself since early August and have not been seeing this.

1. How frequently has this been occurring to you? 2-3 Times per hour. Started on the day I activated 60 day ViP code from Ravenloft bundle, around the 9/1/18.

2. How does the crash manifest itself visibly to you? I see the notification "Disconnected from Chat Server" immediately followed by "Reconnected to Chat Server" Rarely interrupts game play. Maybe 1/20 requires client restart.

Someone in a thread I started claimed that, in addition to the chat server disconnect, they also crashed shortly thereafter. For me, it is a disconnect from the chat server followed by a reconnect. It looks exactly like the chat image zehnvhex posted.

The only additional thing I have learned about it is that the disconnect is actually happening a few seconds before it is reported since, unbeknownst to me, no chat messages are moving in a short period before the disconnect. I have to repeat everything I said, and ask others to tell me what they said.

I see a small hitch in game play. The message comes up. Everything continues as normal.

It has never happened before that, and I have been using the same machine since Mac beta.

1. How frequently has this been occurring to you? Usually 1-2 times an hour. It seems to have started around 4 to 6 weeks ago.
2. How does the crash manifest itself visibly to you? I get a message that I'm disconnected from the chat server then it immediately says I'm reconnected. It seems to also happen every time when I first log a character in. The client does not crash and I can keep playing, just the messages in the chat window.

Interesting note: When I have two people in the house playing DDO on two very different PCs, we both get the message at the same time. I think this indicates that it is unlikely to be a PC or client install issue and more likely a network issue.

Been happening quite a while. I did not bug report it - well - it is a PIA to do it and it was not causing the game to crash.

1. Approximately once an hour, maybe once every two hours. Seems more common on weekends.
2. No crash, just 1-10 second delay before getting the messages during which i can neither send nor receive voice or texts in chat. But can play fine.

My kids and my husband are also experiencing this issue. It does NOT happen simultaneously to us. Usually happens to me first. Our internet connection seems entirely unaffected. I want to say its been going on for the last two months. It doesn't really interrupt our play since we all game from the same room and thus voice and text is used only for rare PUGS and occasional questing with static friends. As such it didn't even occur to me to send in a ticket.

1. Spottily -- sometimes it can affect me several times in a week, sometimes not at all for a month

2. I don't usually crash, typically the connection icon goes red, then the game reconnects

But really, the disconnection with the chat server accompanies that connection icon appearing, in green

The same as zehnvhex. Happens on all servers as well. I've mentioned it to my guild mates and they are not experiencing it. Most of them are on the west coast US.

It happened a lot the past three weeks, recently I have not been on much due to setting up new computer, but it did happen even with new setup. I did not think to report it, thought it was caused by storms in the area. Sometimes it would occur three times during my evening play, and I would get frustrated and then not continue playing

Connection icon turns yellow, report that chat server is lost, then turns red and after minute or more, crashes game or resets back to green. Over the weekend I could not log back onto Sarlona when it happened, it stated the server was 'down' I waited a few minutes and could log on, and it was ok.

1 - Occurs 3-4 times per hour; has been happening since appox. 6 weeks ago.
2 - I always get the disconnected message then immediately get reconnected message; about once per night immediately after the disconnect/reconnect message I'll get a connection warning and then the client becomes unresponsive and I lose connection to the server requiring a restart.

While I do not have an every N minutes tracking of this, I can say that this does occur every day multiple times. It is most noticeable when in parties that are more chatty such as the Monday night G.I.M.P. group or the Tuesday night Static Groups I participate in, as they go quite and I come back in the middle of a conversation. However, it did also create some confusion on Raid Night (Saturdays between 8 and 10 PM Central US) when I gave instructions and no one followed them only to find out no one heard them.

The most interesting time this occurred was when I wasn't even in a party but was running to the vendor to sell/repair after finishing a solo run of a quest. As I wasn't even aware I was in the Party Chat as I wasn't in a party. Again, I noticed that because by the "ding" I thought someone sent me a tell.

Many times I do not notice the disconnect occurred until I get a "ding" sound that normally alerts me of someone typed a message to me only to see "I've been connected to chat"

Chat server connect/disconnect about every ~30 minutes. Started several months ago after update 39 or 39.1 I think.
Ocassionally get text in chat windows stating "You have joined a chat room" after reconnect

A) Ocassionally, maybe once a week I get an unexpected disconnect from server. My screen just freezes like typical lag, then connection icon goes yellow, followed by red. Sometimes get message (paraphrase) 'Connection to server has been lost'.
B) More often (about every 2 hours but varies) I get stuck on transition screens from one public area to another, or entering quest. Connection does not drop - but I'm hung until I manually disconnect and relog. Happens more often when I have been logged in for over 2 hours.
