Default Current top 5 DPS Builds

As the title suggest currently as of 39.2 (and excluding upcoming unarmed monk changes), what are the top 5 dps builds?

how about DPL ... damage per life

    1. Warlock
    2. Warlock
    3. Warlock ... you get the idea ... they never die and you can't DPS if you're dead.

If forum posters who sound full of themselves are to be believed:

    1) Assassin
    2) Tempest
    3) Kensai
    4) Barbarian
    5) Monk

in roughly that order. Maybe tempest/kensai/barbarian swap around a bit.

I've never heard anyone claim assassin is top dps build, at least not in the last 3 years. I usually do hear monk and/or tempest pretty consistently for single target dps.
My take on "the grind": https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthrea...=1#post6220972

Ordinary humans have inhibitions that serve as a buffer against what we know is bad behavior.
However, some people, by blaming others for their own bad behavior, develop a thought pattern that allows them to override self-control in order to achieve a selfish end.
    - My opinion on exploiters and cheaters blaming SSG for unfair punishment.

Now I wonder who would spam that list everywhere....

Assassins can presently pile up some serious single target damage right now. Stealth in reaper is broken, but the damage of the assassin is doing pretty well. 150% scaling on sneak attack damage helps a lot. They're regularly in the top tier in dps tests.

Sounds about right. Not sure exactly where Barbarian is sitting after the last couple buffs, but I rolled up a TWF Barb on lam to play around with it, and it seems like it would be very competitive. Certainly Assassin, Tempest and centered Kensai are at the very top, with Monk following closely behind. I'd be curious to see where a DPS-focused Wolf Druid would sit.

For these - how does SWF vs TWF vs THF compare in the current meta?

Rangers are definitely TWF - are the others as well?

I guess in a party they might be. Since I solo all the time I tend to think in terms of solo, where SA damage is much less frequent even with deception/improved deception items. Plus they are squishier than rangers/barbs/kensai etc, although I realize the question was limited to dps only.

There are alot of variables to this question. Aoe or single target, difficulty setting, crit resistant or immune, type of cc resistances, level range of the character and damage resistances at tougher difficulties especially are all factors.

For very tough content like r6 and up legendary quests and raids very high melee dps is only usefull in a party put together for that content. And I will agree with a sneak attack damage specialist like a rogue assassin vistani mix probably topping out the numbers.

In low to mid heroics I would say a repeater build is probably king.

For aoe dps I would go aoe focused warlock or other caster with mass holds or soundbursts ect1 and super cleaving barb 2 unless its mid to high reaper after level 29 then barb may be tops aoe dps. These are behind single target builds but are better shortman or solo builds.

For gaudy numbers and speed of killing here is the order for builds I have ran at 30 all in legendary dreadnaught,

1.18 fighter 2 monk int based with kta kensai harper with great black razor/scorpions tail. When I respeced for axes a great axe could do hilarious damage with 19-20s on a stunned monster near 20k but was over all a bit slower killing on big hitpoint bosses,
    2. Hand wraps monk shianto main tree dex based with kta Before sentient weapons but also before henshin nerfs,
    3. Melee focused druid 18 barb 1 fvs 1 str based with divine will blackrazor/ scorions tail build.
    4. Assassin rogue dex based with kta this was 2 years or so ago still in my top 5.
    5. Barb bard fighter 12/4/4 single weapon hand axe and buckler ravager build.

Of these the monk and wolf were the most survivable. All could be tweaked for more damage and only the druid and fighter were played with sentient weapons and a prowess set so I am sure that order could be shook up.

Assassin rogue is still king of DPS due to SA dmg (especially reaper since it does not scale down quite like the main dmg), if we are talking pure class. Multi class wolves still win in DPS although.

Which Wolf build do you consider to be the top dps then?

If you build an assassin right you should be SA most of the time even outside of stealth. Deception/Improved Deception/Bluff/Shadow Mastery all allow you to SA consistently. Honestly You can also use Diplo if you have a summons/hireling/charmed creature as well.

It sounds like you have limited experience with an assassin, they are very solo friendly even in reaper.

Top almost has to be 8druid/6cleric/6barb maul build. I played a variation for a day and have to say the DPS was really silly, basically double or more of the pure wolf that I generally play. I wanted tier 5 Occult Slayer for Occult Metalline but it bugged and I lost the +1range/multi every time I logged out and had to reset the tree to get it back, which wasn't feasible long term obviously. I ended up settling for the x2 multi from FB, but that still came out to 16-20/x5 - 19-20/x7 using Tremor and running in Dreadnought. The only DPS downsides are no metalline on the maul and the only way to apply vulnerable without a weapon swap is to invest to at least tier 2 of Warpriest/Warsoul.

Only lasted a day though. I'll take Snowslide/heals over a massive dps increase.

Cheers. Would you have to have link to a fuller description of the build?
